Not shocking. Stone loves Tate. At least he can provide hustle. He's probably the reason why we didn't go after Grant Williams if this is true.
Im sure hes available, but only in the right deal, hes on a cheap contract, ee not just giving him away
I’m not surprised, and I actually like Jae’Sean, but we did not add significant shooting this offseason and I see Brooks and Tari as taking most of the minutes at the 3. I think it’s obvious now that we aren’t gonna make a significant add with the rest of our cap space, baring a KPJ trade. They could surprise us, but it’s looking like this is headed towards a disappointing outcome.
I'd still strongly prefer Grant. He shoots 39% from 3, is younger, and probably the same on defense. He has also played in the system before. I get the appeal with keeping as many defensive solutions on the roster as possible. See no reason why we couldn't have both.
That means no Grant Williams. Rockets have approximately $12 million to spend until the Brooks trade is completed.
I said this in another thread, but more pertinent here... Tate seems like an Ime kind of player. He's a tough defender, versatile, good culture guy and on a cheap contract. A guy like this will prove valuable in a long season.
I'd definitely start him if Westbrook is their starting point. They will try to play transition game and Kawhi and George limping down the court isn't going to get it done.
"Those moves leave the Rockets with $4.5 of cap room, plus a $7.7 million room mid-level exception. They could put Jeff Green into the mid-level exception before completing the sign-and-trade for Brooks when the deals can become official when the moratorium ends on Thursday to have more cap room. But they are more likely to hold onto the mid-level exception and consider ways to spend the remaining space they have after Saturday’s agreements."
He could've gotten significant minutes if we traded Tate and not overpayed Dillon Brooks. Our wing rotation should be Martin/Eason/Whitmore.
The Rockets better have something significant brewing, because it appears they paid OKC to take Patty Mills in order to keep additional cap space open.
