If we strike out on Carmelo Anthony, is keeping Ryan Anderson really THAT bad???

  1. No, Ryan is about to show the world he's on J.R. Smith's level.

The problem is not only Anderson.
    The problem is his contract
Is a 3 year problem for a meh player.
Carmelo maybe is not a star anymore. But at least his contract is only for 2 more years

mavs are trash af and their franchise is trash af. they got lucky with the dirk trade and he panned out to be a good player. their front office dont know what they're doing. dennis smith jr is their only asset and idk how good he's gonna be tbh. and this season mavs are probably the worst team in our division.

we need a starting PF who can either completely shutdown/make draymond green and LMA ineffective OR completely destroy them on offense. Ryno can't do either of those.

With Melo we would be better on the court and we would have much more flexibility to be ready for any possible situation next summer. I'm still ok with Ryan as far as we're talking about games since i also think in the playoffs he'll eventually sit if not playing well (we can play Ariza or Tucker at the 4), but yeah, moving him would be obviously much better at this point.

Just stop. Melo has Two years left on his deal. Lebron is leaving next year. Why would he choose Cleveland.

Anderson's gotta be a better shooter. **** his terrible defense, **** his no effort rebounding....the guy has to bury 40% every night, every stadium, every game, everywhere. That's who he is. He has to be Ryan Anderson.

The wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man act has to stop.

More people typing on their phones. Typing on your phone tends to lead to more mistakes, but the problem is that autocorrect changes one wrong keystroke into an entirely different word, which renders the entire sentence incomprehensible.

    No, it's not that bad.

Anderson is a below-average starter but he does have unique strengths that make life easier on Harden in particular. The Rockets will want to go small at 4 anyways to keep Tucker and Mbah a Moute satisfied with their minutes so it's not like Ryno's logging 35 a night this year (and I doubt Melo would be either). Last year going small meant Harden guarding 4s, so Anderson was overused. Should be less of a problem with qualified small-ball 4s available.

Also, Melo is overrated as a scorer. Of the 25 players who have been 20-point scorers in the combined past three seasons, he is 20th in offensive rating. That's a function of who they play for (I'm sure Melo would be more efficient in Houston), but that excuse only goes so far (KAT is top 10...Jimmy Butler is #3 - neither of them played for an above average offensive team).

I am right with what seems to be the front office party line - Anthony would be a solid upgrade, but I wouldn't even give up Anderson and Ariza for him at his current age.
