If you move something forward, it’s closer to you, hence an earlier time. If you push it back, it’s farther away and later in time. Seems obvious and unarguable to me.

I don't think he was asking to swing but hey...you only live once, right? You have until 2PM to decide, unless you move it back.

I disagree. If I push a box forward, it gets further away from me. If I pull it backward, it gets closer to me.

Yes, but the verbiage is 'move it forward' not push

Forward in time is an advance in time. 2pm.

Should have made the poll public so we could see all the people who would be 4 hours late to a meeting.

You move one meeting forward, you always end up taking two meetings back.

This thread is proof that people can argue about literally anything.

Theres nothing confusing or unclear about this guys. Think of a clock and the direction of the dial movement which is a forward motion or clockwise direction whereas counterclock wise is backward as in going "back in time". Similar concept when Day Light Saving ends it's common practice to say turn your clock 1 hour "backward" so instead 12:00PM then its becomes 11:00AM.

So the correct answer to the poll question is 2:00PM. Nothing to argue here.

But you're not changing time ala DST, you're changing the time of an event.

If you heard that the start of a sporting event was being moved back 2 hours...would you honestly think it was starting early?

    This is bizarre to me.

If the answer isn't obvious then apply the inverse and act accordingly.

The opposite of forward is backward, "move backward 2 hours" is unambiguously 2PM, therefore it is necessitated that the opposite ("move forward 2 hours") means 10AM.

If you are dealing with someone who thinks "move backward 2 hours" means 10AM then you need to sever all ties with that person.

When you hit the Fast Forward button, does your movie go back to an earlier time? Or forward to a later time?

OP has made it pretty clear. Its a poorly worded question designed to see how someone interprets the question. If someone is arguing the 'right' answer, they have missed the point. These type of people are the ones more likely to be sitting at CHAZ in hysteria mode talking about the injustices of life.

Video explains a lot about Louie's confusion with boundaries.

You know me well, as it is true that I like to flip buttons on people from time to time. However, the underlying cause of this phenomenon is fascinating- how do you perceive time? Do you move around it or do you move through it? How does this shape people’s perceptions and very decision making? It’s deep.
