I'm definitely guilty of engaging. I'll try to stop once it becomes apparent reasonable discussion isn't possible. It's probably my belief that people have their own perspective and I am curious to hear it. It might also be a way to help me deal and process with the government assault on our constitution and citizens. I guess I thought it could help me gain a more complete view of how this could happen in this country.
Probably none. Common sense isn’t hard. Republicans didn’t oppose ICE in 2008-12 which is why there wasn’t many protest for this to happen. Now that the Dems have shifted to ICE is bad after doing it themselves under Obama. The crazies on the left have resulted to obstructing law enforcement. It's appalling and sad that there is even a so-called debate over this execution in broad daylight in a US city. Politicians and average keyboard fighters throw around terms like "law and order", "rule-based", or "democracy", and try to justify this murderous action by bunch of masked men. Please ignore my ignorance, has any of you seen similar footage or experienced in the past 30 years, from any other countries, like North Korea, Iran, Russia, or China or Cuba, or any country you dislike - without any hesitation and consideration, shooting a man on the ground from behind ten times in open street? Maybe at some point, in some countries deeply involved in civil wars. Then again, it's 2026, it's the United States of America, for God's sake.
The reality is that the federal government usually trumps state government - but I also think there is a fear that if the local and state authorities push it, it will cause more violence and that the federal government will use that as a basis to take control of the local governments and purposely cause more violence… the state leaders are trying to avoid giving this administration any basis to claim more power, shut down elections etc.
If you're genuinely getting something out of the engagement and are not overly frustrated, please don't let us dissuade you. But I guess, for the good of threads, I'd just maintain awareness of things like "oh crap, the last ten posts are just me and this obstinate dude." You don't tend to do that anyway.
Yes - and MAGA has the Senate, House, Executive Branch and the Judicial Branch. A number of very poor decisions - some by Democratic politicians or office holders (RBG, Biden), some by arrogant entitled interest groups (LGBTQ+) and some by voters (didn’t show up) have led us to where we are - and there is a sense to try and avoid any excuses until the Midterms. The numbers are “good” for the left but will that play out? How many people secretly like Authoritarian rule?

What I would say is, think about whether you can do a better job than a clear as day crisp video detailing the events. Fair point. I think 95% of this board considers this an execution and if you don’t then you are pushing a political agenda. I’ve seen people point out that he shouldn’t have put himself in that position. And that isn’t wrong either.
