here i was this morning, thinking how great the decemberists were last night, when i came upon this thread. this changes everything. this IS the GREATEST most TRANSCENDANT audio visual experience ever. pure GENIUS.
Those in their upper 30's early 40's grew up listening to Journey when their stuff was new. Their greatest hits cd is one of the best.

Big Journey fan here. Seen them live twice without Steve Perry, and while I'm sure it ain't the same, the new guy is freaking awesome. The funny thing was, I didn't even know I was a Journey fan until their Behind the Music. So many of the songs on there were my favorites off the radio as a kid. Nothing like rediscovering a band you didn't even know you liked, ten to fifteen years later. They are probably the best ballad band ever. Oh, and if anyone has the clip from the Family Guy, post it! I've been trying to hunt it down for a fellow diehard fan since it came out.
You'd think that, before they'd go to the effort of making a 3-minute-flash, they'd Google the lyrics.
the intro to "Jump" is better than "separate ways" but the separate ways intro is quality. and journey is quality. and reo speedwagon is quality, and i would probably have put them ahead of journey until i realized the other day that journey sings "faithfully."
True story: Steve Perry was originally the rocker they wanted to send to college. But he didn't feel like making a fool of himself, so they went with Tommy Lee instead (who was all to eager to embarass himself). Link
I heard when Journey got a star on the Walk of Fame, they did not invite Steve Perry, but he found out it was going on and showed up to see it. I bet they all felt like jackasses when they saw him there.
