I hate to say it...

Mark was almost certainly written first. Luke and Matthew were drawn from Mark, and an unknown source currently identified as "Q" that likely consisted of a # of Jesus' sayings.

 

are you sure???? how can you be sure??? we're talking about events that happened 2000 years ago....are you sure you want to just flat out say, "oh, yeah...mark was almost certainly written first...the others were written like 10 years later."?? events 2000 years ago that were seperated in time by maybe 20 years...and you're that certain???

Dispensationalism is the Christian belief that history is broken into segments, basically. Some incarnations have it that there are seven stages starting with innocence with the garden of eden. Millenialism is a category within that is involved with looking for the end based upon dating, "signs," etc.

Incidentally, I read that the new version of Scofield is not the NIV - it was an angry website saying that connection is bad. Conflicts like this is the reason I have 3 different Bibles.

you're right...it's probably a good idea to use a couple of different Bibles. I have one at home that is more of a study Bible with devotionals (don't remember the company), and one I keep up at the office. My wife has another at home that I reference sometimes...it's NIV too, but I can't remember who produced it either.
