Well, he's got an adjusted OPS+ of 199 and is as far ahead of the second place WAR guy as that guy is above the 6th place Altuve and Santana. He leads the AL in batting average, home runs, runs scored, WAR, OPS+, total bases, offensive win%, and about a half dozen other categories. Yeah, seems like he's just getting by on the Yankee hype.
He's in his rookie season, monster offensive production, playing solid defense, and leading a Yankee team into first place when nobody expected them to be worth a damn. You're not wrong about him getting extra attention because he plays for the Yankees, but his play this year has been legit, not just hype. He's the first half MVP and there's not a decent argument for anybody else.
Other than the hype train, which is not his fault and understandable given how and where he's playing, I can't find anything to dislike about the guy.
Hes a beast and a good player but the yankee bs still irks me lol Flat out were saying hes better than trout and harper because those guys dont play for new york lol
He's not. The MLB average rookie age (as of a couple of years ago) is 24.5. He made it to MLB last year, in his 3rd year of pro ball, after being drafted out of college at 21.
He plays an actual defensive position, and he does it at an above average level. He's not some useless slugger you have to hide.
Judge is going to revive baseball more than any guy in the league. You should appreciate the guy as he will probably surpass 60 home runs in a season in the next few years.
