I don't like either one of them personally. I dislike Obama less...especially after watching the debate. McCain might as well be Bush's butler.

Last night's debate now solidifies my position on both guys. Neither one has a clear solution on how to solve this economic crisis. They keep rehashing the same stuff about tax cuts, alternative energy etc...Ideas they told months ago, clearly neither understands the problem at hand and can only answer questions aobut the economy with vague talk employing political sound bites like "creating jobs" and "helping middle class Americans".

McCain seems to be the most out of touch with reality, he think the solution to to this economic crisis is energy independence when everybody and their grandma is crying credit crunch. Yes, we need a long term solution to the energy problem but drilling offshore, clean coal and nuke power isn't going to fix the broken confidence in the economy right now.

Obama is not that far behind in his hazy view of the economy. He wants to regulate a free market as President. OK sounds about right and maybe necessary at this point even though I don't like the idea of government ballooning up further than it already has with the Treasury now having so much power to print free money. Now just show me where Obama has ever voted for regulation as a US Senator?

Seriously these guys are debating each other with gameplan from last season. They are saying all the right stuff which would have worked in any other elections but this one. Clearly they don't understand the playing field has complete changed over the last month or so. This nation is now in urgency mode and needs a genuine leader to restore the confidence back and both of these guys have failed to do so up until this point with their outdated rhetoric and strategies.

I am still undecided and one more debate for these two candidates to come up with something new in order to persuade me. This is the time for innovation and creativity not about using the tools every politician has in there shed.

That's because the problem at hand is something that is extremely hard to fix. Any real plan presented will have drawbacks one way or another and will be subject to attack by the other side. If it was so easy to solve this problem don't you think it would be solved by now?

But one of these two will be the president of the United States, it doesn't matter if you don't like either of them, so who would you rather running the country given that fact?

I reluctantly tend to agree with most of what you're saying...Sad to say, but true...I dislike Obama more but that's because he comes across to me like a used car salesman, slick, smooth talking but with no substance...McCain, if he would have said "My friends" one more time I would have puked...

Look, both candidates don't know what to do about the economy, hell, our own govt. is trying to intervene but IMHO, it's a lost cause...Who's the right candidate, I guess we'll find out in November...

don't blame the candidates. their policies and approaches are coming straight out of their mouths. read their websites, or even www.ontheissues.org to get a condensed version.

the real people to blame are the partisan networks like fox news. they are the ones who are giving the talking head summary.

don't just "hear" - listen. listen to the approaches. for example, one thing you claim you didn't hear was their economic strategies - but then you said you didn't understand why they kept talking about taxes. this makes it clear you're not trying to think these through.

i believe the candidates are saying enough to make an educated decision based on your personal value set and understanding of economics, healthcare, and foreign policy.

Don't bet against America just yet. Remember, when we reach the bottom, we have nowhere to go but up. :p

Are you in Texas? If so, just don't vote. It won't matter.

There really is very little point in asking DM for specifics or explanation.
