http://www.inquisitr.com/3094563/nb...eaving-houston-rockets-for-charlotte-hornets/ Should there be one thread for this? I'm sure this won't be the last...
Haha, what a click bait article title. "Howard Leaving for Charlotte" is pretty damn different from what the article states, which is that Howard has ties to the Charlotte staff, Charlotte will be interested, and Charlotte will be interested in Howard.
We should have traded him at the deadline and gotten a return on our investment. And it's not a hindsight 20x20 thing. It was obvious to a lot of us back in Feb. now we lose him for nothing and we start rebuilding with no draft picks or quality assets.
how do you know we didn't try which we obviously did with all the reports. There wasn't anything worth it to us since having that open cap space is also big. Howard's value wasn't too good this year.
This. All indications showed the Rockets really tried to trade him. No one wanted a few month rental since he wasn't going to commit to not opting out/re-signing. His decline and no one really wanting to take some chance/risk speaks volumes. it'll be interesting how much his next contract is, no way it's max, unless it's a desperate team.
Howard in Charlotte might not be too bad of a fit. Especially if they keep Marvin Williams. It'd be a step back towards Howard's Magic team composition.
Morey wanted 2 first and a player, just like with asik drama, when he refused bass + lee + late first. Y'all gotta be crazy if u think morey couldn't get 1 first for Howard and got that for DMO expiring coming fresh off a back injury & never played a playoff game in his damn life Morey be having y'all not even thinking realistic
But hornets and Howard have been rumored for awhile, they want any big name, it's a lowkey place no big city media drama high expectations all that same reason why Lin went there, and they have a huge opening a center, Clifford knows him, and his agent can get the MAX they both want with ease.
The Rockets could not have traded a star free agent, who took less money to sign with them, because it would have killed their reputation. Just killed it. The only exception being Dwight making it known, if only in a round about way, that he wanted the trade as much as the Rockets did.
Yeah, we may have tried , but it's really hard to know what the asking price was. Morey has a habit of overvaluing his assets and then losing out on value as a result. i just find it hard to believe that a contending team wouldn't have been willing to give up something of value to get Dwight for a playoff run. And to Raven's point, I thought it was public knowledge that Dwight wasn't happy, so why would trading him have killed the rockets rep? We would have been doing him a huge favor.
public knowledge? He was not totally happy with his touches, but was not disgruntled like in LA or Orlando at the end where he ran SVG outta town.
