How thankful are you now that the Melo trade didn't happen?

Melo is 28+M on the book, who are you letting go to make space for Lebron? Two of Harden, CP3 or EGO? Plus Melo naturally plays the same position as Lebron.

A third scorer that's taking the most shots on a team with Russell freaking Westbrook? Stop romanticizing Carmelo...he is who he is. He's getting his shots up no matter what.

Melo would have been a big contract coming off the books. Our only expendable big contract is locked in for 2 more seasons.

In case you haven't figured it out yet...

Melo does not want to play with Russ.

This (chucking, taking the ball) will continue, get worse, and finally erupt.

Who said we would have a bad win share or bad record with Melo?

They should have gotten a player at another position. PG and Carmelo are not that complimentary IMHO.

This isn't true on the Rockets. First of all OKC is a hot mess as long as they rely on Westbrick, Westbrick is one of the biggest ballhogs in history he is so bad Durant was willing to become GSW's b**** rather than stay on the same side of the court as WB. Westbrick is really a shooting guard in a pg's body, his first to third instinct is to shoot the ball thats why they are so dysfunctional. Melo shoots the ball because he knows he ain't getting it back lol.

It would be a different case on the Rox because we would welcome Melo's shooting tendencies with open arms, the Rox actually needed a chucker because 3/5 of the starting lineup aren't volume shooters.

Most importantly though Melo would've been a massive upgrade over Anderson because Anderson is a career playoff choker, no matter how much @DreamShook tries to deny. Anderson has disappointed in the playoffs both in Orlando and now in Houston. His shooting just leaves him once playoffs start.

He waived his no-trade clause to play in OKC with Westbrook...people blaming Westbrook is kinda funny b/c Russ has actually cut his shots down dramatically in order to try and better facilitate. What changes has Melo made?

Carmelo could play with MJ and LeBron and he'd still chuck up his same shots.

Didn’t want him when he was a free agent, didn’t to trade for him this past offseason and don’t want him now. Full on believe the moment thunder traded for him they made themselves worse.

If you look at the plus/minus for the team, Melo isn't the main reason they are under achieving. That team has no chemistry. None of their 3 guys really know how to share the ball and make their teammates better. If Melo were here, he would be playing with the 2 best point guards in the league.

I usually don't agree with you, but i can see this completely. Melo is going to take all the shots

    Most definitely.

    They need a point guard.

Thaddeus Young was one of those defenders who always seemed to frustrate Kristaps Porzingis, who used his strength to ground the Latvian and hold him to 38% shooting in their first seven matchups.

But like most of Porzingis’ opponents these days, Young was absolutely torched on Sunday night by the new and improved 22-year-old. So what’s the difference?

“Melo’s not there,” Young told the Daily News after his Pacers were upended by the Knicks, 108-101. “So he’s going to get the ball 10 or 15 more times per game. Anytime a guy sees the ball that much, the rim just gets bigger.”

I was only going to be happy if Melo would come to be third fiddle. I don't know if Melo would have been cool with that or if the Rockets would even have had that expectation or the balls to enforce it. The only thing that was attractive about it was the potential for him to come cheaply. Without any indication of what his role would have been, and no opportunity to get him at what we were willing to give, I was not at all sad to see him go elsewhere.

Too bad Melo never became a player that assisted instead of just chucking it. He became decent at making them doe.

He could have been a much more complete player.
