How much has your health insurance premium increase??

    $4 difference from last year on my part. Damn you Obama care, $4 did not live up to the fear mongering the republicans were spewing.

    Mine went up $3 per pay period. A coworker of mine had hers go up $80 per pay period.

    5%-10% depending on the service (although i'm in NYC, my company is based in California.)

    im self employed and have to buy my own - in 5 years it went from about $90/mo. to $175/mo. - that increase happened while junior was president. and the increase actually would have been more, but i adjusted my policy a couple years ago to lower the cost - if i had kept my original plan it would have been over $200/mo.

    but last year i had to take a 20% pay cut (obama was president at the time) and it finally caught up with me and i had to cancel my health insurance last month, as i can no longer afford it.

    I'm paying 620 dollars a month for health, dental and vision for a family of four which is almost $100 dollars more a month. I pay 20 percent of all medical bills with no deductible. My company is self insured.

    If you have insurance through your company you really shouldn't talk. Your cost may have only marginally increased, but that does not mean that your employer's cost only marginally increased.

    Small businesses (less than 50) are often seeing large increases. Just because they do not pass that down to their employees in all cases does not mean they aren't feeling the sting.

    my company's group plan went up 15%....crazy...fortunately , some of the people will be 64 this year and by June, it will "only" be an 8% increase or so...I dont charge my employees for their health insurance so they dont feel the crunch as much...but i know they appreciate it

    True, but:

    (a) Small businesses were seeing large increases prior to this year too - prices have been rising about 10%+ per year for the last decade. Same withi individuals plans, as seen by Wellpoint's attempts to increase rates by 30%+ in one year on many of those plans.

    (b) The price increases this year are based on health care expenditures in 2009 and 2010 and, to a lesser extent, 2011 projects - so they aren't really affected by ObamaCare very much, if at all. Most of ObamaCare's stuff doesn't really take effect until 2013, so there's not much this year that's connected to any of that.

    yup...at this point correlating prices to health reform is kind of like arguing global warming based on the weekend weather forecast.

    I am curious if anyone has had a substantive change though? Had affordable health care become available where it hadn't been before....or be required to buy a plan they otherwise would have chosen not to.

    According to my Dad, my sister was able to move off his (for which he was shelling out $100/mo) and onto her company's (for which she pays $30/mo). Apparently Obamacare caused her company to get healthcare for its employees. ONOES!!

    Myself? I don't keep track of these things since it's just deducted from my salary.

    The employees at my firm are not seeing an increase, but there was an 18% increase for the firm. Additionally, we just got a letter from our insurance company that it will discontinue health insurance within 3 years.

    One of the biggest problems with the compromises of the Obama bill comes from the fact that it doesn't offer price controls. Insurance doesn't mean much if these healthcare corporations continue to jack up their prices at unconscionable rates like they have been for the past 30 years.

    I wish you guys were somewhat consistent. when some dude said his premiums went up a ton you said those were supposed to happen no matter what. Now you are saying hey mine have not gone up! success!

    Mine went up about 10%. But, they also changed some things about the plan to make it cheaper, like increasing copays for some services.

    On the flipside, we're getting some more benefits because of HCR that need to be paid for. Apparently there's no longer out-of-network emergency services, for example, which I think is cool. Also, the company split off the EE + Spouse and EE + Kids from the Family plan. So, my Family premium went up because I'm less subsizied by the people who don't insure a wife or kid. They pay less than before.

    The moral of the story being that it is completely pointless just looking at premiums. The company pays part of the tab, and they change benefits and change the distribution of costs all the time. You can never compare apples to apples.
