How many people from your graduating class are still around?

    I found out recently that of my graduating class, 7 of the 270 people in it are no longer alive.

    We're not old, but we're also not young either (class of 2001).

    It just struck me as a "high" mortality rate... 2.5% thereabouts.

    I tried to find some statistics about this, but all I was able to find was this actuarial table from the SSA which basically says that an attrition rate of about 4% for my age group would be "normal".

    I don't know, but if you had told me that greater than 1 in 50 of the kids I grew up with would be dead by 40 I'd find that super concerning, you know?

    Nice topic.

    One dude got sick,
    another was in a car accident,
    another in afghanistan.
    This one girl used to say she would be a mortician and she ironically died. Not sure of what.

    That's all I know and those didn't make it to the 10 year reunion.
    I havent heard of others since then.

    Edit: I wanted to make a website of this like a 'deadbook' that could track who and how died.. never did never will but like op I wanna know

    Don't have a clue, there was 1 guy in the class below me who skied into a tree years ago, only 1 I know of.

    No ****ing clue. I talk to one person I graduated with and that's very seldom. I didn't peak in High School so I don't really have a lot of ties there, and friends are more to me than just the kid who always sat next to me in class because we had the same last letter last name or we lived next to each other as kids. I hit Facebook about once a month so I know some are still around but I don't engage on FB as a rule. I think one of the people I graduated with was on the first amazing race.

    I don't really know many people from high school still. I switched high schools - moved across the country - as a junior. I don't do Facebook or anything so I don't know for sure. Know of a few that have died from both schools.

    Found out about a month ago that a good friend of mine from high school committed suicide in December. That was hard to swallow.

    My friend from Creek thought he finally made it and retired to Redfish Island in a two story oyster house, but during the house warming party a tanker wake washed everything away.
