I’m glad nobody is there to embarrass the Rockets name.

    Is this a serious question?

Because the aim of the shootout is to make the most threes.

No one wants to watch our guys go 3-30. That's not the objective.

They do enough of that with the 82 game season.

among all of the qualified players, no one from this team is on top 50 of 3pt FG%.

It would be good to have one but it's not mandatory.

I hope the team takes this as a message. Get in the gym over all star break and do nothing but shoot. Right now, you aren't shooting well enough for a league contest.

As the former 3pt champ, Gordon could've been invited, but he's only shooting 32% this year, which is not good enough even for a previous 3pt Champ. Looking at sheer volume, Harden is shooting more 3's than anyone (13.3/g) and making 37.5%. Steph Curry is only one close on volume (11.5) and is shooting a ridiculous 44.8%. Harden could've have been our rep and given his year that would have made sense.

Not sure why he's not there, but as others have alluded to Harden has perfected the step back 3, which is an incredibly difficult shot. In my younger days I participated in 2 3pt contest in the military (Won one and 2nd in the other). Efficiency, rhythm and speed are the key in these events. If you have a nice easy stroke, can get into a rhythm early and move quickly through the balls and stations you have the best chance of success.

I believe Harden had a tough time in his last 3pt event, because he gets his rhythm through his ball handling and is not at his best doing a snatch and shoot action. With all of that said, its probably best we don't have someone in the contest, but I will admit it is certainly ironic that we don't.

The NBA probably didn't want to deal with the confusion that would ensue after our player finished shooting all of the balls on his rack, and then ran over to the opponents' racks and started shooting those too.
