Guy puts up amazing numbers. Though his team is very deep, they are No. 3 in NBA. I think he's MVP over Kobe and Lebron, maybe only Nash tops him.

    Doesn't make his teammates better.

    Doesn't play defense.

The other 3 guys you mentioned do one or the other extremely well.

In my opinion, an MVP has to do one or the other.

He definitely is NOT MVP over LeBron, Kobe or Nash. Just because he's pummeling the soft Grizzlies doesn't mean very much. Let's see how he plays against Bruce Bowen in the 2nd round. If he averages 30 points again we'll talk, even though the MVP is for the regular season and not the playoffs.

Nope, I'd rank him behind Nash, Kobe, & LeBron. He's got one of the sweetest shots in the NBA, and he's an okay rebounder, but does he do anything else? His defense is NOT good... guys always blow by him way too easily (remember the T-Mac dunk on Shawn Bradley? that play was Dirk's fault). He also flops and wails his arms too much.... Don't get me wrong, he's a great player, but not good enough to knock Nash, Kobe, or LeBron off the podium, though maybe I'm bias as I prefer my 7 footers in the paint

He's a great scorer and a very good defensive rebounder. He's not as bad a defensive player as people make him out to be. He also produces a TON of points while getting a minimal amount of turnovers. While he doesn't get a lot of assists, but his role on the team isn't to distribute the ball. He had the best PER in the league, played on a great team, and also had a very strong +/-. I think he was a quality MVP candidate.

He should be MVP. Everyone says his team is deep and that's why they win so much, it is, but the gap between him and the next best player is huge, bigger than Kobe to Lamar for instance. Take him off the team and they do not make the playoffs, they would probably be as good as the Hornets.

I don't think he is doing a "3" sign but rather he is doing the "shocker" symbol. (2 fingers in the top and one in the bottom)

Jirk did the 3 sign in OT, not on the game-tying 3 pointer. The sign he made on the game-tying shot was something different.

Magic Johnson didn't play defense either. He won 3 MVP awards.

In my opinion, the MVP rankings this year should be:

    1. Kobe Bryant (I personally feel that team isn't good enough to get to the playoffs in the NBDL without him)
    2. Lebron James
    3. Elton Brand
    4. Dirk Nowitski
    5. Steve Nash

    but I don't get a vote.
