Houston's new theme park: Earth Quest Adventures

The latest I heard was what Oski posted with regard to groundbreaking. I had heard the construction/groundbreaking was supposed to begin Fall of this year and it was supposed to open to the public in 2011 or 2012.

 

I live 2 miles from the property. They are getting the roads ready to handle the traffic first and foremost.

They are already bringing up a few hotels in the area. The property from what I see is huge. They have a flying J's right across from the property which is going to make a killing as that is the only store within like 4-5 miles from the property.

Would be a prime time for anyone wanting to start a company catering to that type of business.

 

Until they build all the properties onsite that will cater to shopping. They'll have plenty of shopping in that area. Part of the park will be a shopping area that includes outlet stores and/or big box retailers (like a Target or Best Buy according to one of the articles I posted earlier).

 

I hope, because they don't have anything out here besides a few fast food places, and a Flying J's.

 

I wish I had some money to buy foreclosures in Montgomery county. I bet I could make 50% profit on the houses, once the Dinosaur park is finished.

 

Any update on this? There is literally nothing on google news since 2009. I There was actually supposed to be a groundbreaking in 2008 that didn't happen, and I don't think the Fall 2009 groundbreaking happened, either. I have a very difficult time believing this massive park will be open in either 2011 or 2012, if at all.

 

I've been looking too, since we're buying a house in Oakhurst at Kingwood this summer (59 and Northpark).

I sincerely hope the whole idea is scrapped. The area doesn't need the extra traffic.

 

i guess not the silence is deafening.

 

hahaha. I love how they will have "green" homes. The whole place sounds like a giant carbon footprint other than that.

 

its not much, but i was able to find this. its supposedly still on track for late 2011, and is expected to create over 1000 jobs, and bring over a million visitors a year.

On my way to Lufkin for work, I noticed the sign for this place. I got excited, but then realized it was just a bunch of trees and no work had been done at all.

The sign is nice though.

It just seems to me that they don't have enough money to get this thing off the ground.

 

If they're having to do fundraisers to get the thing started, that can't be a good sign. I mean how much are they charging for this, and how much of the costs can they really cover in an information session?
