Houston Laff Stop- The End of an Era

I had no idea that it had moved...I thought that it had just closed down.

I loved that place...saw Dave Chapelle (and hung out with him afterwards), Harlan Williams and many local comics there over the years...

 

Well that sucks...I will miss that place, used to go a lot 3 yrs ago.

 

Can't say I knew the place too well since I haven't lived in Houston in quite a while, but I'm sure my uncle who does stand-up (known as "Hypnobro") performed there plenty of times. I'll have to ask him about it sometime.

 

Yeah, good riddance.

I heard that Laff "Spot" (the place where the CFers saw AB last May) bought out Laff Stop some time this year

I saw Joey Diaz there about 4 years ago before they moved to the Allen Parkway location, then saw AB's Sellout group perform at the new location in '07

Love the small location but people just preferred the Improv when they opened its doors 5-6 years ago and pretty much the smaller venues were doomed, in all honestly tho, I think Laff Stop was alot better than the Laff Spot and Comedy Showcase.

Yeah, Chuck was awesome, he conned my mom into getting her aura picture taken, he was quite the trickster.

A great guy though, really sharp.

Saw Mitch Hedburg at Laff Stop years ago. I'll miss both of them.

 

I had no idea they were closing. I never got to go to the new location, but that's more about timing and opportunity.

 

I'm dyslexic so whenever someone told me to show up at the Laff Stop I would show up at the Laff Spot.

 

That was the Laff Spot. In the WillowBrook Mall, no?
