Yeah..... kind of reminds me of the Republicans bringing in outside counsel to question Blasey Ford.

Blasey Ford was a Cabinet Member? No, she was not.

Blasey Ford was a mentally unstable prop in the Senate Democrat's effort to slander and smear Brett Kavanaugh. Of course if she had any legitimate basis for these baseless assertions, the proper venue would have been to provide that to the local sheriff's department - some 37 years previously. But instead, the Democrats wanted to air these uncorroborated criminal complaints against Donald Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court, without corroboration, except for the testimony of those people who she cited as witness who stated that they never attended any such event.

In this case, it was appropriate to treat her claims seriously and as the potentially criminal matter that these charges were. Which we all know know they were not legitimate - just like the charges against Trump asserting that he conspired with the Russians to steal the 2016 presidential election from Hillary Clinton were also false.

See the pattern? Democrat leftists are relentless, aggressive, unconscionable liars who will tell any lie and smear anyone, without basis, and also without hesitation or remorse. They are as fundamentally untrustworthy as it is possible for human beings to be.

So since Blasey Ford refused to press charges on these claims - for 37 years - but the Democrat's still insisted on pursuing this matter in the wrong venue, it only made sense to take her deposition using a specialist, as is the typical method for investigating these sorts of claims during confirmation hearings. In fact, this should have been handled by the local sheriff's department 37 years prior. But this was never about that, as we all know. It was about the Senate Democrat's utterly despicable attempt to smear this man and ruin his life, literally by any means necessary.

To call these people turds would be an unfair denigration of fecal matter. They really are nasty and despicable in the extreme.

Ford was not constitutionally bound to answer Congressional questions.

Congressional staff questioned cabinet members during the Contra hearings without objection.

Congressional staff also asked questions in the Watergate hearings:

Yes, Congress Should Let Staff Question Witnesses Like William Barr

You are really struggling here. Which witness was impeached that was questioned by congressional staff in the Contra hearing or the Watergate hearing?

    So?

There are political consequences for going above and beyond tradition and practice. The Democrats learned that with the nuclear option..... and the Republicans are learning that with the use of private counsel. Same will happen in the future when the Republicans open investigations against Democratic Presidents..... and Republicans will learn it down the line when one of their SC Justices are not voted on.

Everything in politics comes with a cost.... regardless of political party. The Republicans got cute on the Ford examination, now they get to look like hypocrites on William Barr's examination.
