By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2002 Houston Chronicle Rockets physicians have uncovered an easily treatable abnormality that could be triggering guard Steve Francis' recurring migraine problems, team internist Jim Muntz said Saturday. Muntz stressed that the vertigo control abnormality in Francis' right inner ear might not necessarily cause Francis' headaches or be their only cause. Migraines are considered to be a disease, and symptoms can be triggered in a variety of ways. But Muntz said the problem could cause the dizziness that usually precedes Francis' pain. ---------------------------- Finally some news that might actually treat this pain in our @$$'s....I was definitely giving up hope on our Dr's out there. I'm happy for Francis, I really felt bad for him going through this...let's just all hope this is the reason for the migraines!! PLEASE!!!!!
It's not just that I don't want him to miss games. I seriously hope Steve is ok. I've had migraines before, and it's very scary.
I get migraines usually once a week or two (at least). They're not fun and I hope his suffering can be eased. It's very likely that that could be part of the problem. Anything in or affecting your sinus cavity (as I said in another post) can trigger them. Good Luck!
The great part about this news is that Steve had always complained that he could never focus on the basket when he was suffering from migraine headaches. Chances are that this condition was causing much more of that than the actual pain itself. This would probably also explain why pain medications have not helped Steve get back on the court. Let's hope that this at least allows Steve to get back on the court. Hopefully doctors will soon be able to help him live pain-free.
I know for a fact that the ingredient MSG can affect people as well. My grandmother continually got migraines because she has an allergic reaction to MSG which is found in some salad dressings like ranch and also found in potato chips and in som meats. It might be a possibilty the Rockets' staff needs to look into.
