Duncan & Hollinger are drafting teams of 8 of the rookies & sophomores out there, so this only goes 16 deep. Some short discussions of Green and Sengun. Sort of validates what we already know, but hey. It's a slow week.

I was anti-big-man pick before the draft, although I was never sold on Jalen Green.
Now, though, I'm shocked and dismayed at how good Mobley looks. He is a real unicorn player, in spite of the odds. Given the first pick I'd probably would have chosen Cade for his IQ, two-way abilities and well-roundedness, but it's looking like Mobley now.

    1. Evan Mobley (team Duncan)
    2. Lamelo Ball (team Hollinger)
    3. Scottie Barnes (team Hollinger) (Duncan disagrees)
    4. Cade Cunningham (team Duncan)
    5. Anthony Edwards (team Hollinger)
    6. Jalen Green (team Duncan) (Hollinger disagrees)

    7. Franz Wagner (team Hollinger)
    8. Desmond Bane (team Duncan)
    9. Josh Giddey (team Hollinger)
    10. Tyrese Haliburton (team Duncan)
    11. Onykea Okongwu (team Hollinger) (could see them trading Capela and promoting Okongwu on the Hawks)
    12. Jonathan Kuminga (team Duncan)
    13. Tyrese Maxey (team Hollinger)
    14. Alperen Sengun (team Duncan)

    15. Devin Vassell (team Hollinger) (Duncan disagrees)
    16. Ziaire Williams (team Duncan) (Hollinger disagrees)

    Honorable mentions:
    Moses Moody
    Cole Anthony
    Quentin Grimes
    Herb Jones
    Saddiq Bey

Jalen is actually a better fantasy player because of his potential.

I still can't believe we passed on Mobley.

No real quibbles. Duncan has been high on Green since the predraft and I agree with his "upside" argument. Unfortunately Green's potential is going to be high variance.

To edit, I also agree with notion that Green doesn't seem to know what to do with or effectively use his athleticism.

Jalen Green at #6 is good news for Rockets fans.

Either Jalen will live up to potential in 3 or more years or he is traded for a legit All Star.

Either case, Green is still a high value asset.

It is a good sign for the league to have a great big again.....a unicorn.

The two guys they comp Green and Sengun to are spot on. Green reminds me so much of Lavine both in body but also in their transition to the league. I will say that Jalen seems to be a year ahead of where Lavine was as his numbers are better than Lavine's age 19 season but they are pretty comparable to Lavine's age 20 second season. I hope that bodes well for Green. Sengun and Sabonis are also similar physically as guys who lack great length and athleticism but make up for it with skill and IQ. Again, Sengun is achieving numbers at 19 that took Sabonis until his age 21 season. I think that Sengun ends up putting up similar stats too (about 20/10/4).

Despite his slow start he is still highly regarded as a top prospect out if the last two drafts. People here like joking about him being 20, but these things matter.

Given how much he struggled to start the season, that's great. Being above Wagner, Giddey, Haliburton shows what we've been saying: people saying Green is nearer to being bust are NOT the "realistic" ones. They are the extreme negative, worse than non-Rocket fans.

Makes total sense for Mobley to go high right now.

He literally said one of the worst players in the same sentence, tantalizing upside but future limitless as in it could be a failure as well.

I played fantasy a lot, it is literally just fielding a team with a template, some differentials and one hit wonders for a limited stretch......

I expected for their fantasy draft for Jalen to be picked lower. It's nice to see they notice his future potential regardless of what he's doing right now.

Yeah I guess you could call it a Dynasty draft. They weren't really drafting for "Fantasy Basketball" (ESPN/Yahoo etc) but just who they thought the best NBA players will be.

    I'd probably go:
LaMelo (I know I know, Mobley is amazing blah blah)
    Mobley
    Ant
    Halliburton
Cade (STRETCH, but betting on upside)
    Giddey
    Barnes (cause of multi-position defense)
    Bane
Maxey (he's proven it this year, but this will be too high if the ones below improve)
JG (think will ultimately be too low, but its too hard to say for sure... and could be too high)
Alpi (think will ultimately be too low, but its too hard to say for sure, hard to see it being too high)
Wagner (also could be low, but I'm not

Why in the world do they have Haliburton ranked so low?

The one dude wanted to go with a defensive stalwart, Hollinger wanted a transcendent facilitator who could also shoot and was a triple threat.

Drafting Mobley and Cade together is a genius tandem move already shown in the Rising Star game.

It’s just Nate Duncan’s opinion. That doesn’t mean there’s a GM out there with a feasible trade they would make. I think OKC would immediately hang up the phone and laugh if we called offering Green for Giddey straight up (they’d really probably say they need multiple unprotected picks too, but you get the idea).
