So I'm looking to go to my first con in June and I'm in need of some advice for my costume. I'm going to go as Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho and I'm most interested in this attire:

I'm willing to buy the wig, but I want to find similar clothing for the rest of the attire. how would I go about the pants and belt?

    Closer look:

    Back up look:

What are the Japanese shoes called? Are they like those slip on shoes chicks wear nowadays?
I need the double belt and what material would be best suited for the pants? Also, if anyone knows where I can get a nice hiei Wig that has the white starburst outline.

I try to limit my cosplay to one night a year, typically in October, but I can be swayed by the right woman.

Well I hope you enjoy being a virgin for the rest of your life. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you? You are not 6 years old and it is not Halloween.

You dudes are ridiculous. If he wants to dress up like an anime character let him, there's plenty of people who do it that aren't virgins. There's some seriously narrowminded people here, I suggest you ignore them. If you're looking for actual advice on this subject, I don't think this is the place though (as you can clearly see). I'm sure there's a cos play blog or something you can come up with on google that will work better.

    #1 Nope, cosplayers are either:

    (a) Virgins

    or

    (b) Had awkward ugly sex with another cosplayer that is possibly human.

While I would never do it myself, I was sleeping with an incredibly hot girl who was into cosplay or whatever for a while. Not surprisingly though I was having sex with her and not the guys dressed like a Yu-Yu Hakusho character.

That being said though, the whole cosplay thing is pretty common now. And more people do it than just weirdo guys/girls. So eh, it's not really worth making that much fun of.

You guys wanna hurt me? Go right ahead if it makes yall feel any better. I’m an easy target. Yeah, you’re right, I want to cosplay. I also don't care what yall think. I could be a cold-hearted cynic like you guys… but I don’t like to hurt people’s feelings. Well, you think what you want about me; I’m not changing. I like… I like me. My family likes me. My friends like me. ‘Cause I’m the real article. What you see is what you get.

I know someone who could make that outfit. It seems quite simple to make considering all the outfits that i've seen him made. But it would be really awkward to ask him though bc he's my dad and all lol.

Like I said, ignore them dude you're not doing anything wrong. I'm guessing most of them wouldn't even actually say anything rude if they weren't behind the safety of a warm computer monitor. You have the right idea, have fun and don't worry about what the ignorant say. This life is too short for that ****.

I have absolutely no clue about cosplay or any other form of dressing up, but the belt shout be pretty easy: Just buy two narrow white belts and paint the parts that have to be dark with a Sharpie.

Think people may be underestimating the women at these things:

Ignore the hate OP, just go big and pull a girl like ^^^ and shut the haters up.

As for the costume, it doesn't seem that hard to put together. Black v-neck, cut sleeves off. Black sweatpants. Black keds or vans. Abundance of athletic tape. White headband. Buy the wig and belt. Done.

Oh and, hit the gym hard between now and June for better effect.

    Good luck, bro.

Lol, I'm not offended at all. I know most of them are old people who figured out how to use a computer and are like, "back in my day" or "when I was young". They should be in their late 40s or early 50s in my estimations.

Just quoted 'planes trains and automobiles' to fit this specific scenario. Thought I could get a laugh or two.

    LOL COSPLAYING? WHAT A WEIRDO!!!

(my baby momma is huge into the cosplaying scene, sews her own costumes which makes it easier. She says go with 100% cotton for the pants. at the thrift store, look for baggy early 1990s pants, apparently sand dollar has a ton of them. Get them tapered at the bottom for $15 at your local cleaners.)

You could use masking tape for the socks and arm band thingy. Or toilet paper.
