    • Former Astros GM Tim Purpura is joining the staff of Minor League Baseball as executive vice president and chief operating officer. The appointment was announced by Pat O'Conner, the newly elected president.

    LOL

This is going to be the Isiah Thomas to the CBA move.

Next, Timmy P will be GM/Manager of some team...and never lose his job.

Say what you want about his tenure as Astros GM. When he was in charge of their minor league system, the Astros had one of the best in baseball.

Oh yeah, he's fat, too. Ha ha ha.

I get the feeling that all of these articles on how minor league baseball is booming are going to go away.

btw the food at the Hooks games is great I sure hope Timmy can control himself

Damn straight. I had mixed emotions when he was promoted; I didn't want to lose him in the job he had as he had done so well, and I wasn't sure his success there would translate as a GM (though I was very vocal about giving him a chance).

    It didn't translate.

is this like when Casserly took a job with NFL corporate? except it's more like NFL Europe corporate...so maybe Casserly did better than Purpura

Casserly never got that job. That's why he works for CBS.
