If you have HBO you HAVE to check out this show. It has become my favorite show since i watched the night they showed four straight episodes. Its a series about a family that runs a mortuary. The father dies leaving the mortuary to his two sons. And blah blah blah.... watch this and find out for yourself. I think that anyone else would agree with me if they had watched the first few episodes, that this is a great series that you should check out...... AND one of the main characters is one of the hosts of the show "Sports Night"

    SO CHECK IT OUT

i agree. it's my favorite show right now too. great writing, great acting.

if you liked American Beauty then you'll like this series. And even if you didn't like AB, you should give this show a chance.

Great show. My Mom, of all people, turned me on to it. She's just too cool for school.

I too am hooked on this show!

IMO what makes it so good is the writing. It's just so well put together without having to rely on gratuitous violence or language.

I see that it is on all the time, but the title just sounded too morbid, so I've never watched.

Thanks to this thread, I'll give it a shot.

it is pretty morbid. the opening scene of each show features a death scene. last week this girl was riding in a limo and was standing thru the sun roof and she hit a cherry picker with her face, which they showed smashed up later on in the episode. it was actually pretty gross. in a previous episode a guy died inside a giant dough mixer when he was cleaning it.

by the way, one of the main characters is gay and the show isn't shy about dealing with it, so if you're homophobic then the show might not be for you.

Oz, the Sopranos, Six Feet Under, maybe free tv should allow people to do whatever they want with their shows. HBO is the best network on tv. Heck, having Pimps Up, Hoes Down doesn't hurt either. [IMG]

Im not a homophobe or anything but where i go to school people call you a *** or homo if your acting stupid or you did something wrong. Usually im uncomfortable watching anythign related to homosexuals or anything like that but on this show for osme reason the gay guy does not phase me at all......

I just loved that line a couple weeks ago when Nate turned on the TV in his brother's room and gay porno came on. His brother got all embarrassed and Nate said, "It's ok! I watch porno too!"

    Hilarious! [IMG]

DrewP: The reason you probably don't feel uncomfortable is because their portrayal of a homosexual man is actually more like reality than most. He acts "normal" (whatever that is). Up until recently, gay men had to be flaming or in the closet. This is a pretty good look at a normal gay man and how he lives. The focus is on his life, not his homosexuality. The homosexuality is PART of his life but, like heterosexuality for straight people, it doesn't define everything about him.

Yeah, we always had people over to watch The Sopranos and continued for Sex and the City. We had very low expectations and were floored by how interesting this show and its characters are. Unbelievable!

Oh yeah, and Nate needs to dump that psycho. Nothing good can come of it.

Jeff the undertones are definitely there. But I can't help but feel that Billy was seriously abused by his father in some way. In fact, both of them seem to have been (remember the episode where Claire found out that Brenda was the subject of her favorite novel?).

And you are right on about David (excellent take)

I also love the story line they have going with the mother and the Russian flower guy.

    Very funny!
