The playoff contenders probably wouldn't offer much either for rentals. GSW probably could/would offer Ian Clark (rental), McAdoo, Looney, McCaw, Damian Jones and pick(s).....but they don't need Millsap. Cleveland could give trash like JR Richardson, Shump, JR Smith, Dunleavy, Frye, Felder, James Jones, McRae. Utah doesn't need them. San Antonio could trade guys & LMA, he is more of an iso guy.....usually they won't make a trade. As SA might be the most balanced of all playoff teams on offense & defense. I could see the Thunder or Blazers going for it.
Maybe someone like Bogut? A defensive specialist that can catch and finish around the rim. Very much like how GSW built their team two yeas ago. Milsap would be nice, but we have Ryno at 4 that can provide scoring. I think we a big defensive anchor to allow us to go deep in the run and adding Milsap doesn't address that plus we probably have to give up some values in exchange for him. So that prompts me to say Pass.
Heck if we find a way to get Korver without trading any key players on the roster that in itself would be totally INSANE move by Morey. The Rox are already looking scary as it is
He makes sense in Boston, oddly enough. I'm just not sure Ainge feels he's worthy of spending any major assets for. Toronto is the other team that would jump out to me. He'd fit perfectly, especially if they can keep PPat - Toronto/Cavs would be a fun ECF. Houston doesn't have enough assets that we will likely be willing to part with. Korver, on the other hand...
We don't have a realistic chance at Millsap because we'd give up a key rotation player to make salaries match and have Atlanta want to make a deal with us, and the Rockets should have no interest in messing with our rotation. If Atlanta do choose to do a mini roster overhaul, maybe Dekker and a pick and a contract could get us Korver. Some will say they don't want to give up a young player like Dekker for a half season rental in Korver, but if the front office truly believes we can get far, it should be a no brainer. Losing Dekker can't have that big an impact on our locker room chemistry and he's the one player on the team that's getting minutes that probably can be replaced (well Brewer too but no one wants him) and I can't see Korver hurting this team in any way, but could make us much stronger. Interested in seeing if he does get traded and what its going to cost.
I could see coach Bud accepting McDaniels for Korver (not Brewer). He's been able to convert those kind of prospects into solid players. Maybe adding a second piece/asset.
Haha, didn't see this post when i was typing mine out right after. Dekker + KJ + 1st or 2nd or Gentile?
Wait, I just noticed Atlanta is only a game behind having home court advantage in first round and just beat the Spurs, this could be all hearsay
Actively pursue Kyle Korver please...They are taking offers for him as well. Korver off the bench with EGO would be extremely potent.
I would trade our first round pick and second round pick for a Milsap rental as long as we don't have to give any rotation guy other than Nene and Brewer.
Salaries aren't anywhere close to matching, and involving a willing third team would be extremely difficult.
Rockets are not lacking in offense, they need better rim protection, rebounding and overall D. And if they want to add more firepower why not just sign Jimmer, no trade necessary. Trading for Korver would also seriously jeopardize team chemistry and depth because of all players it would take to match salaries.
KJ and a lottery protected first? If that's what it takes then Morey needs to make that call. If they want Brewer and first instead, then give us Noel and Stauskas.
Exactly. If we had Paul Millsap Rocket fans would be begging to trade him for the younger & better floor spacer Ryan Anderson. Folks, Anderson and his long 3 spacing is a major reason our offense rivals Golden State. Its going to be rare all of our shooters are off at the same time like in the Spurs collapse game. Millsap costs too much. We should look at Thabo and Korver in the fire sale.
After looking at Millsap's contract....SA, Boston, Blazers, and Thunder may be the only teams able to match salaries. Other teams won't give up prospects for a rental if it doesn't get them near a championship.
I'd definitely be interested in Korver and Sefolosha. They're both getting up there in years but they're savvy vets and Korver is as pure a shooter as ever there has been. They could certainly contribute and add some pretty valuable depth.
I would love to have millsap. He's being underrated in here big time. However, the cost to get him is just too high because of his salary.
Man, Milsap is an awesome player who I've wanted for a long time. Great offensively and spectacular defensively. Him, Bev and Ariza would give us elite level defensive players at their respective positions. He is tremendously underrated. Having said that, no trade seems to fit. Nobody is gonna want Anderson, and frankly he's a pretty important piece to what we are doing offensively and fits much better in our clear out the middle, shoot the 3 system. Gordon, Bev and Ariza aren't gonna be moved. The only other possible trade seems to Involve Brewer/KJ/Ennis/Dekker/Trez, but that would leave us without any swingmen beside Ariza, only 1 PG, and no financial ability to add anyone, so it doesn't work logistically.
