Hey Democrats. By all means, please make immigration the centerpiece of your mid-term campaign message. Thanks in advance. Best thing you can do for Republican prospects this fall.

Your open borders, minimal enforcement stance is catnip for your base, but the average American isn't ready to relinquish our sovereignty.

    Monthly Harvard-Harris Poll: June 2018
An overwhelming majority of American registered voters, 70 percent, support tougher immigration enforcement to include a border wall (60% support), deportation (64% support), and repatriation of all illegal border crossers including families with Children (61% support). Additionally 69% of voters do not support the position of disbanding I.C.E.

Well, duh. Neither am I. We still have hundreds of thousands streaming across our border and it's worse right now than at anytime in this administration.

Although he continues to make efforts at stopping the invasion, he's being stymied by the left, both legislatively and via the left-wing media spreading lies with an attempt at forcing a neutering of enforcement efforts. The Democrats held military spending hostage and gloated about limiting border security funding to $1.6 billion and putting in restrictions that it can only be used for fencing and roads, not for walls. Thats bullshit, plain and simple.

Would I say I approve of his attempts? Yes, but I can't approve of the totality of the job he's doing on immigration until I see results. And that would be a secure border with a wall and an end to chain migration.

He's on the right side and has the right ideas, but has played far too nice.

The reason that immigration and tariffs are currently an issue is that Trump is playing 2018 politics.

How did that whole separating children from their parents go? Trump looked both weak and incompetent when he rescinded his separation order.

When the Midwest soy farmers get screwed when selling their harvest this fall, who do you think that will hurt in the polls?

How did it go? Well, it was going great and beginning to have a significant deterrent effect, until the left and their media-propagandists spread a bunch of lies, mistruths, old imagery, and staged imagery resulting in a manufactured backlash and the the executive order. Reports are that once awareness of the child separations made it back across the border, the number of adults crossing illegally with children dropped significantly. Now I'm sure it's right back up where it was, or higher.

To all the anti-american pieces of crap that want to do everything possible to make our borders even more porous, congratulations.

Not much information there at all about the methodology of this poll, but why should we give any credence to a poll which openly states that it oversamples blacks and hispanics? What effect do you think that's going to have on immigration questioning?

The polls you posted are not of registered voters, as mine was. This is an important distinction.

Your polls sample groups therefore are likely to include felons and illegal aliens in addition to those that are eligible but not registered to vote. This is not inconsequential.

    Womp Womp.

Like I said, hang your hat on immigration for the midterms. It's the best thing y'all can do to increase the republican majority.

The tea party gave power to the more conservative republicans through primaries. The same could be happening here for the dems. Sort of a tank for draft picks approach. The thing Republicans are bad at is making fundamental changes that outlast current power. Obama forever handed us DACA and healthcare, at best we are going to get the Supreme Court to finally rule semi auto rifle bans are unconstitutional.

The Tea party didn't cost Republicans seats, for the most part.

The Trump clone candidates, however, are getting shot down left and right.

The Bernie clones on the D side are doing pretty well so far.

    Too Long; Didn't Womp Womp

Conservative immigration policies are consistently unpopular with most independent voters, and in some cases even failing to crack a tie with Republicans themselves.

If Trump fanbois make the wall and shooting children out of cannons their primary issue in 2018, they're going to get murdered at the ballot box. I welcome this new strategy. MAGA.

Sure it did. The Tea Party candidates were widely and successfully painted as racists in the mainstream. It greatly hurt.

Largely drunk on a cocktail of flaming ignorance and impotent rage, that group of bumpkins who suddenly started giving a crap about the debt once a Democrat got into the Oval Office (surprise!) and began writing legislation and checks to clean up his predecessor's mess... somehow managed to take back Congress. And hold it.
