http://www.myfoxhouston.com/story/29836879/james-harden-did-not-let-jason-terry-leave-the-rockets Terry is like Yoda mentoring a young Skywalker. And I have not seen Star Wars since I was a kid, so I'm not sure that the reference makes sense. But I think it does.
Considering Smith mentioned that he never even really said goodbye to anyone in Houston when he left...
Wouldn't let him go anywhere? Terry: C'mon Harden I just want to go to the store and get some milk! I'll re-sign with the Rockets!
Breaking news: Terry signs a shoe deal with Adidas worth 10 million moneys. That sneaky, sneaky Harden. Working his contract and adidas over to include a clause to sign old man terry.
I really love that for Terry it really wasn't just about the money, but the opportunity to mentor younger players. A lot of guys may say that, but Terry backed it up with his action. But for a mid-career guy like Smith, a guaranteed role and playing time, as well as the potential impact on future contracts, have to be the main factors in his decision-making.
Good stuff to hear. I like that Terry is on as a mentor, and more importantly, that Harden is willing to listen and be mentored. On a side note, I could definitely see Terry coaching in a year or two when he retires, especially since he's talking about helping young teams "on the cusp" like the Pelicans.
Terry strikes me as a good future analyst (TNT, ESPN) or coach (maybe not head coach but assistant...)
