Most likely Mayo isn't in the grizzlies plans. It is just too much burden on the cap to keep him around. It sucks because he is a clutch shooter that can hit 3 pointers in spurts.

The other issue is does Mayo even want to be with the team after this year? Being a 20 minute a night bench scorer doesn't get you the big bucks in the nba, so he may wish to be traded.

Also we have a guy behind him, Xavier Henry, that might be able to provide us with the same, or better, production.

It all boils down to how much Michael Heisley is willing to spend. He has mentioned that he was committed to signing all of our starters earlier in the year. This was before Mayo was demoted. I think however that the fact that they were willing to trade OJ at the deadline is an indication that that plan has been amended.

    Hope this helps?

Sure it does. We are certainly riding the wave of his playoff performance when we throw all of this out there. Many grizzlies fans, myself included, have questioned whether he has regressed or not. In fact, I posted as much on these very boards. But if he continues to performance well in the playoffs, 10-13 million is a bargain. Not to mention that he is one of the main reasons that zbo is playing so well. Without marc, zbo would find it a lot tougher to do what he does.
