    I remember in one of the few blowout wins we got during the Francis era, at the end of the game Joaquin Hawkins hit a fadeaway baseline jumper from basically behind the backboard. Bill exclaimed something like "well that's the coup de grace. When Joaquin Hawkins hits that shot you know you got a win!" Or something close to those lines. It was pretty funny though.

    Cool article. Hawkins was perhaps my favorite NBA benchwarmer ever. He just worked hard and knew where to be.

    I read his book. It needed a way better editor but it was still a decent story and it seems like he's grown up a lot over the years.

    I admired his defense and toughness on the Rockets. I felt very humbled by reading his life story.

    What a great young man. I hope he will remain healthy, happy and successful in his life.
