I just graduated from UH and need to pick a place to have my "graduation dinner" with my family. I would like to go to a steakhouse that also has good seafood - think surf and turf. We will have 8 in our party and these people love their wine. I have been to Smith & Wollensky's and Morton's but would like to try something new. Also, has anyone been to Pesce on Kirby?
Mark's, Sullivan's, Vic and Anthony's-in that order. Golden Corral isn't a bad option if you majored in English Lit.
Yes, the pork chop at Mark's is awesome. I didn't like their ambience quite as much as I did Vic and Anthony's or certainly not as much as America's, however. Both times I've been to Mark's I've been upstairs in the former choir loft of the church.
Congrats, and to you too Swoly D. I just graduated on sunday - we ended up going to chilis because I didn't have any clue who was coming to mine and I didn't feel like making reservations for 25 people and having 10 show up.
Benihanas because it can be tough reserving a table for 10+. Unless it is just a few people, the Taste of Texas or Ruth's Chris. Of course I would be happy to go to Outback, Texas Land and Cattle, or Salt Grass. Congrats
I've been hearing really good things about Taste of Texas, has anyone actually been there? I think it would have been my choice because all the praise it recieved but it is a little to far away to work out. SwoLy-D and meggoleggo, congrats on graduating - ready to be grown-ups now?
I've been to Taste of Texas. It's good, but on par with Saltgrass and Outback, not Mark's or Sullivan's, etc. It is cheaper, though. People might be talking about it as best bang for the buck.
Taste of Texas is good but not great. Preaty good value for the money I'd say. Sullivans is much more upscale and has better food across the board.
You, sir, are on crack. I'd say Taste of Texas is easily more pricey than places like Saltgrass, Outback, TX Land & Cattle, etc. And it's definitely a notch above those places. What with the killer salad bar, the homemade breads, etc. Not to mention the best cuts of TX steaks. I recommend going with both the garlic butter AND lemon pepper seasonings when they ask which you prefer. Oh and sometimes you get the special "treat" of sitting in the wine room. The worst thing about Taste of Texas is they don't take reservations, so if you go during peak times - particularly on the weekends - you'll hafta wait. But they make that a bit more pleasant by offering complimentary sodas, popcorn, chips & salsa, etc. Or if you prefer, you can go the bar and hang out until your number is called. I wouldn't say it's the BEST steak in town, but I will admit it's my favorite steak place in Houston.
