Cody Johnson is by far the best thing in current Texas music scene.

    Aaron Watson is very good.

Jon Wolfe is someone to keep a eye on.

    Asleep At The Wheel
    Real Texas Swing

Then try some Bob Wills and George Strait.

But if you are singing about beer, you need to quit music, really. Affected honky tonk bulls****.

    Joe Ely.

This is one of my favorite bands of all time. When my buddies were following the Dead around the country, I was following Joe Ely around Texas. I must have seen him 20 times or more when I was in college.

This is actually a cover tune, and a poorly made homemade video. Still..........gotta love it.

Some of you guys are giving him recommendations that make it seem as if this genre is dead. It is not.

I'm curious to find some newer artists I'm the genre. Never got into Sturgil Simpson. He is just different for me.

Another singer/songwriter I love, although a more folksy/acoustic rock type is The White Buffalo. "The Whistler" is one of my favorite songs. Love it. You guys that have seen Sons of Anarchy should be familiar. Anyone have any recommendations for this typenof music?
