That's all. Let him go, or trade him but over paying like the max for green will be a huge mistake. Let another team make that mistake and trade him before we make that mistake. We all now can see his flaws and they haven't been corrected since his rookie year. He is who he is. We should have taken evan or Josh or Barnes. Botched pick.
max? If I am owner, I’d seriously consider not exercising the Year 4 option this October. He’s not a $12M player. Let him play next season as an expiring, if he makes a leap, I expect we’ll have plenty of room in 2024 to make him a fair offer.
Too bad there is not another Poison Pill contract a la KP Junior. I am not sure someone would trade for it.
Is there any conversation about giving him the max right now? What the hell, let the kid play and develop and decide when it's time.
he gonna 100% get that max here or elsewhere...and just wait until gsw put their hands on him...gonna transform him into MJ...yall gonna cry why adam silver allowed steph curry and jalen green to be on the same team
So many of you guys are gonna eat crow on JG. When we get a coach who actually runs an offense he is going to thrive. Dude is 20 years old and thrown onto a team that has ZERO accountability & discipline, exactly what someone like JG (someone who is used to being the 'the guy' on a team) needs. Wait until you see him under a coach who actually holds him accountable and pushes him.
This isn’t going to be popular but it’s 100% the truth. Green can definitely still develop into a productive player but the #2 pick averaging 20+ ppg is going to demand the max and that is going to be a mistake for whoever signs it.
Im still on the Green train but no ****. He has 3.5 years till we really have to make that call. I think even if he struggles we would pick up his option for the 50 year just to see if that is when he blooms but we just really have to sit and wait. His brain and body need to mature.
We just are not going to get fair value for him, if someone is offering you a #2 overall pick then consider it, but the reality is a trade could be selling low, it is worth the risk to get in a new coaching staff, new GM, and see if they can get him going in the right direction. Drafting a guy like JG cost the franchise several hundred million dollars by tanking a full season, it is a large investment that you don't just give up on without changing the other variables around him.
