That's Odom's 2nd step. His first step was on the free throw line, Battier himself was further back and shifted to his left some... Both of them are taking a chance there.
I agree with that. It wasn't a dirty play at all. Just one of those basketball plays that's much more likely to result in an injury than most, but the rules allow it.
