Deke!! It is time to move on from the Dorsey experiment for this season, and let him move down to the NBDL to gain the experience. Next season, not this one. We need that 15 years of experience behind Yao. Plus it takes him several weeks to get his timing back. I will feel much better about the start of the season with Deke in the backup roll. Getting off to a really good start is important by season end so stop wasting time, Morey, sign the man!!
Eh, I'm actually good with Deke taking a break right now, and signing with us maybe in February/March after we've cleared up some cap space to get under the luxury tax. Besides, it's not like Deke needs preseason or anything. We'll need Deke more for when we're making our playoff push as opposed to right now. Trust me, in a 7 game series, his energy off the bench for 10-15 minutes will be a God-send, but the only way to get his maximum effect is by letting his take it easy right now.
Deke's a nice guy to have on the bench, so it would be cool to have him around. But, realistically, he's not going to really contribute on the court until the second half of the season anyways. Adelman wouldn't want to wear him out so early.
OK, give him whatever minutes you might have barely considered giving Dorsey. 8 min a game, let Landry/Scola or Hayes have another 8 and Yao gets the rest @ 32. That is 8 better minutes you will get at the center position from anyone else on the bench for the Rox.
If Deke isn't signed before the start of the season we are going to suffer. Despite his advancing age,he still can bring it for limited minutes.
Yet another "WE need Deke" thread! <a href="http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=154477">merged</a>
More of a "Dorsey needs a lot more time to develop" and "Deke is our best real backup center option at this particular time" thread.
Morey has been quoted saying that Deke will be their PJ Brown move this season if everything goes to plan.
