It's also speculative that they are lying about the length of their relationship based on one persons testimony. A person that admits that she saw them showing affection but there's no evidence that she actually saw them having sex.

It's an interoffice affair, or interoffice romance. As someone who has worked in an office before, and seen many a flings happen, they are often complicated, and often are organic. I've never in my years seen a co-worker proposition someone for sex for money or favors, but I have seen people go years flirting with each other, spending alot of time in each other cubicles, etc. then end up getting married a year or two later, and living happy lives. I have ALOT of married friends who met their spouses at work.

Now this relationship is not smart to have had because of the Trump prosecution, and because they had to have known that Mr. National Enquirer would find a way to air their dirty laundry. However it's perfectly normal in corporate America for this type of relationship to happen, and while most work places frown upon it, the only thing they can really do is ensure that it is disclosed, and each worker is put in a position to not get favorable treatment, and cannot report directly to their spouse.

Such hirings often happen with people who are already friends or whatever - sex doesn't make a permissible personal connection suddenly impermissable.
