Was game 4 the worst choke job in Astros History? I know the 80s were full of them and in the late 90s we were just dominated. The last time we had an epic loss Roy O came back and pitched us to the world series bit as we go down to the Royals we will be the first team ever to lose a 4 run lead with 6 outs left in an elimination game and not win the series that is god awful. Ugggghhh
at least the last 25 years. Sure Pujos knocked the one out on Lidge, but like you said Roy O pitched us to the big dance. I think being dominated by the Padres in late 90's was a big one as well. If there was one year to win it all, that was it.
The better question is whether it's the biggest choke job in Houston sports history. Oilers is still above it, but 8th inning Game 4 is up there.
The fact that it was only the LDS will automatically exclude it from being the biggest ever. Not even close in comparing it to the Pujols game... at a time where that team/city never had won a pennant and were literally 1 strike away.

At least it was not as bad as the Rangers 3 errors in one inning, and Odor fielding an easy fly ball like a 5 year old player
Not even close to game five against the Phillies and game six against the Mets considering both of those would have gotten them to the World Series.
Does it matter? You lose. Choke jobs for a team that has been in the playoffs in 10 years? That was supposed to be in the playoffs at all? No...its not a choke job. The better team made plays. This not the 35-3 Oilers Bills.
I tend to agree. The whole entire bullpen blew it. It speaks more to the talent of the pen than choking imo.
No...the manager made mistakes in using his pitchers. The Astros didnt have enough this year. EVERYONE knew it. They were not ready to win. You don't leave those bullets in the Minors that you could have brought up. Stop playing game with ****ing arbitration clock. Bring up your players..........
most people forget that we had 1st and 2nd with one out and failed to score a run. We score another run there and its a whole new ballgame.
No, it was a choke. Maybe it was on one or two relievers(and Correa with the error) and not the entire team, but it was still a choke. You're up 6-2 at home and 6 outs away from a division series victory, you need to close. As for where it ranks in Astros history, I'll be honest. I was too young to watch those 80's playoff series. Sure, I've read about them and seen clips, but that's not the same as watching it live. I would absolutely rank the Game 4 choke over that Pujols homer though. The Stros still had 2 shots to win that series and did in fact take the next game. And BTW, that was a horrible blown save by Lidge, but I don't think letting 2 men on and then serving up a homer to the best hitter in the world(at the time anyway) compares to giving up 5 straight singles to start the 8th and letting 11 batters come to the plate when it's all said and done.
