So Camby is 39 years old and Dalembert is 31 years old. Camby is most likely to retire and Dalembert might might not be coming back if Morey doesnt accept his option. If Dalembert does come back, he isnt a solid center for the Rockets. Yeah he has good defense and all but I see him as a better backup then starter. We desperately need a legit center who can score and defend the paint. If we Draft a center here are our most likely choices 1) Tyler Zeller (North Carolina) --> only if he slips to the 13th pick ( I feel he is gonna be a bust) 2) Meyers Leonard (Illinois) --> Most likely choice and best choice 3) Fab Melo (Syracuse) --> maybe 2nd round In the Free agent - Jason Thompson (pf/c) at 6ft 11in ( Great but could be risky) - Omer Asik at 7ft ( Solid but not enough) - Spencer Hawes at 6ft 11in ( Great but must work on defense) - Chris Kaman at 6ft 11in (Getting old, but still solid) - Roy Hibbert (Restricted) --> Just pray ( perfect choice but long shot) - Javale Mcgree (Restricted) ( hahaha) Well I think we should look in the FA and take Spencer Hawes. He's young and has a nice offensive game. IF not him I would go after Thompson who is a great defender and rebounder. Hibbert is a long shot but he is the best out of the choices. If we dont go to FA for a center then we should take Leonard Meyers who is lean and tall at 7ft. But he needs like 1 to 3 years of development. What do you guys think will be our future center for 2012 and beyond?
Marcus Camby wants to play 4 more years. He should start the season and let Andre Drummond back him up for a few months before taking the starting spot
asik would be enough. he's a defensive monster. i actually think moultrie can play C too, if we get him. all C's are nowadays are defensive presences, if you want post scoring we need a better PF. motie has a chance to be that guy.
keep camby around if he wants to stay. dalembert too... & draft young and tall. if our 4 is a hybrid center, it lessens our need for a new center. scola's lack of paint protection is part of the problem.
We've got as much chance booking that as a round-trip moon journey. Asik is a QO FA and CHI will easily match the $2.3M QO. Beyond that, the Rockets have little to offer CHI. And CLee is also a QO FA. Not happening and don't hold your breath. If you want to "book" something...try Dalembert and a re-signed Camby. Camby fits right in with the $Ball philosophy...Martin got to the line in Q4 as much as Jordan...and Camby rebounds at a record rate.
Camby and Dally will be fine, if Coach will play them! I think we need to improve other positions more than the 5. Hope Moti will fix the 4. Parsons is a solid, versatile 3. Our 2 and (assuming we resign Dragic) backup 1 are positions we need to improve-- maybe Llull will fix that; maybe we could get something for Scola, Martin, Lowry, and/or picks?
Meyers Leonard, Festus Ezeli, Fab Melo, Kyle O'Quinn, Henry Sims, Jeff Withey. Screw free agency. We could shore up our bigs in this draft.
You can offer Asik well above the QO. As much as you want subject to available cap space and the Gilbert Arenas Rule.
The key with Asik is to poison pill Chicago into not matching. We could offer a four year deal structured at 5m / 5m / 15m / 5m When that 15 million hits in year 3, it will be the same year Chicago has guaranteed 56 million to Rose, Boozer, Deng and Noah. They would be near 71 million with just 5 players and the multiplying tax penalties will be in full effect that year.
I like Asik, Thompson, and Hibbert. Hibbert would be #1 on my list but we all know that he's most probably not signing with us.
