So by law in the state of Texas, I understand that a car needs a FRONT and a BACK license plate. I'd like to take off my front license plate but I obviously do not want to be pulled over. However, I know a ton of people who have them off and they have no trouble with the law. How strictly is the license plate law enforced? Do cops only give out warning or do they actually write tickets?
I've gotten a ticket. There is always one ******* driving around out there with nothing better to do. $60 ticket I think. Instead I went trail by jury so I could yell at the guy in front of a bunch of people. Didn't get that far unfortunately.
I don't have my front plate on. I have gotten a warning before, but I haven't had any problems for almost 3 years.
I think in japan they have these device were they push a button and a fake license plate flips out. That would be great for here with the toll roads.
i have custom plates and i lost the 1 in the front over a year ago. Havent had any problems tho. Ive been meaning to order a replacement but Im too lazy lol. f**k the popos
You can't just take it up the butt your whole life. You have to speak up and make some noise if you ever want things to happen. If everyone just sat there women wouldn't be able to vote. You don't need front plates in other states. I chose to put my foot down. Why don't you go yell at every cop that doesn't write that ticket since apparently that is what you believe in. Go yell at all the cops not doing their jobs.
I'm curious as to what yelling at the cop in court accomplished other than a) making you look like an ass b) annoying everyone else in the room c) wasting the time of the jurors.
Why bother taking it off? That said, I don't have a front mount and don't plan on getting one since it require me to order parts that go in where the tow hook is. I've been pulled over once, and the cop basically told me to stick it on the dash(which is still technically illegal).
I've been given a ticket once (was dismissed in court) and then I was pulled over by a state trooper (given a warning). This has been over a span of 6 years or so. Most cops don't really give a ****. I don't have mines on by the way.
I don't have a front plate as I show my car in car shows a lot and would not even think about drilling holes into my front bumper. 3 years now and have not been pulled over once for it. Hell,I just drove through Louisiana twice, once for work and the other for Jazz fest and got away with it. I even cruised pass a trooper going over 100mph with a fleet of others and nothing happened.
Have you written or contacted your local state representative and state senator? They are the ones that you would need to work with to get the law changed. Yelling at a cop in court won't accomplish what you want.
You'll most likely only get a ticket for it if you get pulled over for something like speeding. You can always keep it in your car, and try to convince the cop you just got the car from the body shop recently and haven't had a chance to put it on.
I had my front license plate off for years, but then one day I had a thought. Do I really want to give a cop a reason to pull me over? If you don't have your plate on, that gives a cop a reason. Not really something you want to be dealing with if you're out at night, especially late. Since then I've kept my front plate on.
I don't know if mine got stolen or fell off but I've been without one for about six months and haven't been stopped for it.
