http://nypost.com/2017/07/12/knicks-and-rockets-move-closer-to-trade-as-pelicans-want-in/ "The Rockets will hold a lavish press conference Friday to introduce Chris Paul — with guests including James Harden, coach Mike D’Antoni, GM Daryl Morey and owner Les Alexander. Sources told The Post there will be no surprise announcement, no surprise visitor in Carmelo Anthony. Maybe that will be next week. As much as Anthony’s camp is pressing the Knicks to complete a trade this week, nothing is imminent or expected to happen until well after the press conference, according to multiple NBA sources. The Knicks and Rockets are getting closer, but they have work to do. “They’re still in the middle of the process,’’ one NBA source familiar with the trade talks told The Post. Another source told The Post over the weekend talks “stalled’’ regarding a three-team deal, and the sides had to go back to the drawing board. ESPN reported a fourth team is being solicited to inherit at least one of the contracts. A fourth team has yet to be finalized, but ESPN reportedboth clubs remain “motivated’’ in making this happen. The Pelicans, once the home of Ryan Anderson, expressed interest in being one of the clubs involved, according to a source. Anderson’s contract, which has three years and $60 million remaining, needs to be part of the transaction because Anthony’s $27 million pact — plus trade kicker — is so immense. The Knicks have no interest in Anderson because he plays Kristaps Porzingis’ position and is older than the mid-20s-type player the club seeks According to sources, Knicks acting president Steve Mills is so preoccupied on trying to figure out a way to move Anthony to the Rockets in a multi-team deal that he’s unable to focus fully on landing a veteran point guard. One goal is to accomplish both — getting Anthony off the roster to continue their "rebuild mode and inheriting a veteran point guard in the Anthony trade that could mentor 18-year-old Frank Ntilikina, their rookie first-round lottery pick.
It's never easy when the Rockets are involved. Every other team seems to love bad deals except when Morey is doing the dealings.
Point guards used to be easy to find until the need for them to be able to shoot became part of the equation. Then the ones who did got paaaaaid and no one care about the ones who dont.
Porzingis should play the 5 anyways. Stretch 5 is like gold. That's why he is called a unicorn. You would have a stretch 5 and 4 on the team! Oh my.
I feel like Morey is trying to placate the Knicks too much. You have all the Leverage why not just strong arm them into a trade.
http://www.procamps.com/JamesHardenPHX Part of the story is wrong Harden won't be at the press conference he has camp that day
Exactly my thoughts. 5s are just getting smaller by the season anyway. The low-post banger is on their way out of the league it seems. Clint Capela is the modern nba center. I would think Ryan and Porzingis would be pretty dangerous together. At the very least, the knicks would be more exciting to watch.
doesn't seem that expensive which is good to see. 50per hour to have a clinic with james their seems like good value
Lol what? One day some of you will realize it takes two or in this case four to trade... this isn't 2k
Well do you do for a living? Because I negotiate for a living and understanding your leverage the most fundamental step to get a deal done.
Unfortunately it had to be done. The Rockets have to operate above the cap to make all this happen. If the original salary cap for 2017-18 had not dropped by $9,000,000 or so, then all the teams would have had more wiggle room in negotiations.
