Berman reported tonight that Hayes agent says that they are close to signing a contract with the Rockets. No details were mentioned except the the Rockets would match any offers Hayes might receive from being a restricted free agent.

I can see Hayes still starts for us because of his rebounding skills and defense.
He is still young and if he can develop some kind of offensive skills, he can be a Barkley Lite
alston shot 500 3-pointers last summer to improve his shooting skills, i expect Hayes to shoot more mid range jumpers

Did those 500 3-pointers actually improve his shooting skills? LOL

Glad to see Chuck is coming back, but barring injuries, i bet his minutes will be far and few between this year.

If only he can develop an offense....that would make him Barkley w/ a defense.

Good to hear. Chuck had the most inspiring play of any Rocket last season.

    Go Chuck

yay chuck. let's hope he can have more games like he did in game 2 of the playoffs. carried us for the 1st quarter there...which is impressive considering he has 0 offensive skills to speak of.

If you don't like Hayes, you must be one of those annoying people w/out any friends. He's nowhere near the best pf and he doesn't contribute a lot on offense, but he gives 100%, plays great D, and does all the little things that count. Got to love what he brought to the team the past 2 years.

So does this mean we're out of the pf market?

Gilbert Arenas is shooting going to shoot 100,000 3 pters this off season. See the difference between the two?

I hope chuck comes back. As much as I like the idea of Scola becoming a Rocket. It remains to be seen how effective he'll be against western conference bigs.

Did anyone else notice that Chuck had a much better touch around the basket near the end of the season and especially during the playoffs? I think Chuck can fit in Adelman's system because he is a very cerebral player. People forget that he played all 4 years for a good program in Kentucky.

    I'm really happy about this.

I hope Deke is next. Haven't heard anything about him re-signing this offseason.

Chuck is a great guy and is full of heart, but exactly how did chuck fare against the western conference bigs, not too well if my memory serves me correct? I'm hoping that by mid season (at the latest) Scola fares a little better than Chuck!
