Jeff Luhnow needs to stop giving up on players named "J.D.". Martinez, now Davis. I guess at least Davis was a trade.
The Diamondbacks designated Blake Swihart to call up Josh Rojas. Will be following Rojas’ career very closely; he has a scary upside that could make that trade a big win for Arizona.
I actually think Luhnow should avoid trading any prospects whose name starts with J. Martinez, Davis, Hader. Hell, Nottingham reached the majors. Now Josh Rojas is getting called up. Just keep all the J names.
If Greinke helps the Astros win the WS in any of the next three seasons then it's a win for Houston too. I cannot wait to watch Rojas, think he has prime Zobrist upside.
Rojas making his MLB debut today. 1st AB... Rojas stung a liner to deep right field that Charlie Blackmon jumped up and caught just short of the wall.
Former 1st round pick by Boston, Blake Swihart Things don't always work out. Zobrist didn't have prime Zobrist upside when we traded him to Tampa Ask Hunsicker
Yeah I'm aware. What I was getting at is prime Zobrist was a fantastic player, a swiss army knife with hitting ability.
Teams should be lining up now to trade for our-marginal-to-us prospects. Sure, we will turn their vaulted-but-failed pitching prospects into all-stars, but that is value outside of their current reach. Davis in 280 ABs this year has delivered 0.8 WAR. Mets control Davis through the 2025 season, so the Mets could be the really big winers here. All for 2 prospect outside of their top 10 (from an average farm) and 1 non-prospect. 2B Luis Santana, Mets #11 (Baseball Prospectus) prospect became our #16 (after the Greinke trade). CF Ross Adolph, Mets' #12 prospect became our #27. C Scott Manea, unranked and still unranked.
Remember David Carpenter? No, why would you. Broke in with the Stros, was involved in the Happ trade, iirc. He got called up by the Rangers, first time he's been in the bigs since 2015
Converted catcher. Actually remember him well, and it was indeed that massive deal with the blue Jays that brought Asher Woj, Kevin Comer, Joe Musgrove, Francisco Cordero, and Ben Francisco to the Astros.
