if we do a S&T for Josh Smith? Aside from Harden those (Asik and Lin) are the only contracts we have with any weight. Looking at the Hawks, with all their expiring, they are way under the cap-- but then they just gave Korver money so that ties up something.
Don't think this needed a new thread. Short answer is we can keep one of them. I'm out and about so typing this on my phone and just using the figures off the top of my head... J.Smith 13.2 (last year) max = 16 (roughly) Lin 8.3 Asik 8.3 White 1.7 T-jones 1.5 D-mo 1.4 Trade matching rules = we can take back 150% of salaries. Ex. Asik in a straight up trade means we can offer Smith about 12m I'll leave it to you to work out the various combinations. Have fun!
Serious question..Sorry I'm not so knowledgeable with the rules of the CBA..In Milwaukee's case they got two picks when the clippers did a sign and trade with them for reddick right? Is it possible for Houston to do something like that as well? two picks (or whatever else, just not Lin and Asik) for a sign and trade for josh smith with atlanta? Is it possible if we brought in a third team? Apologies again for my lack of knowledge..
I'm gonna piggyback on this thread with my own question. is it the cap or the luxury tax over which we cannot accept a player back in a SnT? Being a semidecent Clutchfan essentially makes you the capologist among your group of friends.
A simple search and read will get your answer: We are in the 2nd case if we land Dwight, since trading for Smith will for sure put us above the cap. reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_salary_cap#Trading_and_the_salary_cap

We cannot accept a SnTd player back if we are 4 (might be 3) million over the luxury tax. This is called the Luxury Tax Apron I think. I believe the number this past year was 74 million.
Hoopshype.com has Lin going to the Kings ( Rumors) if anybody has info post here or start a new thread thanks bros....
