I'll be flying out of town for a few days, and I might need to take my PC with me. I have to do some video editing on this trip, and I currently don't have a laptop. Has anyone ever flown with a PC? How should I go about this...I've only flown once in my life, so I don't really know what I'm doing here. Would it be easier to just ship through fedex or another shipping service? Edit: I hope no one thinks I'm trying to use it as I fly. I just need to get it to where I'm going!

As long as you wrap your desktop PC in styrofoam with a "Heed: Wide Load" sticker on it they should let you take it onto the plane. Heck, you can probably even hook it up and do some editing on the flight. I am a frequent flyer and see people doing this all the time.
So, are you taking your monitor with you, too. If you're staying in a hotel, not all of them have microwaves and toasters...so you might consider taking those, too.
Better off getting a laptop. You going to have a hell of a problem with a large ass PC if they aren't being gentle with it. It's not just an empty PC case. You have to think about valuable parts in there such as video card, cpu heatsink and especially your HDD. Best if you take them out especially if your HDD is valuable and you don't have any backup.
I don't think a labtop is necessary. He can just remove all the parts of the PC not needed for video editing and check it in, like you stated. Sort of like carving out a pumpkin.
What? They let you carry your LCD monitor and PC in your seating area and hook it up somewhere? That doesn't sound comfortable at all.
Greatest clapback video ever. Anyways, I often travel with my desktop and 20 inch LCD when I travel on extended trips even though I have two laptops. I put the desktop tower in my checked in bag and I carry the LCD in my hand baggage. My desktop tower is an mini tower that only weighs 20 lbs though.
I've seen people carry on desktops. As long as you don't have any other large carry ons , its not a big deal. People will stare at you though.
You can buy one of these at avadirect for $40.... If you want to go all out, you can pair it up with this... Also, I highly recommend this for privacy....
oh, and dude...JuliO-R... I found you a mobile microwave : <img src="http://www.gizmocult.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/mobilemicrowave.jpg"> And a nice toaster that can probably fit in the microwave: <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/155/343143644_fb128cf854.jpg">
you know laptops do not share the same power as a desktop at least a laptop that is in the same price range as a desktop. And if his desktop has at least $1800 worth of parts in there then there is NO laptop available that will be able to touch the desktop even if you spend 3 grand on it.
