I saw it on 45N near the Woodlands around 6:45. Just one quick flash. I assumed it was lightning, but it was foggy

A couple of my Facebook friends are posting about it as well. One guy said he saw it on the way to work in Clear Lake.

Haha, wow. I still even have the link in my clipboard. They said something about a meteor shower that was suppose to happen on the 13th and that it could be seen as far as Dallas.

HOUSTON -- People across Texas -- from Dallas to Houston -- reported seeing a huge "shooting star"-like object in the sky around 6:45 a.m. Friday.

Did you see it? Send photos to assignments@khou.com

At least one witness in Dallas reported hearing a boom with the fireball, which reportedly had a long trail behind it.

Some people said the object flashed from red to green before it disappeared. The light show only lasted a few seconds, witnesses said.

This morning's fog in southeast Texas made it difficult to capture on camera.

KHOU 11 News Meteorologist speculated the object may have been from the Geminids meteor shower, which takes place in December. These meteorites often appear to be slow moving, although the Geminids usually are best seen at its peak on Dec. 13 and 14.
