Where is the best place to pop your own fireworks in the Houston area? Also where are they legal/illegal? I live below the loop, so if anyone knows good spots in the Pearland-Alvin-Freindswood-Clear Lake area let me know, thanks!
Outside City limits. I live outside the beltway in West Houston, but it's still illegal here. Once you get out to Katy you're good.
Come to baytown. They put on a sick fireworks display. Fireworks crazy here. We fire artillery shells from our driveways.
You can watch fireworks at Oyster Creek Park or a little bit further south at Buffalo Run Park. Both have plenty of green space to have a picnic, but parking might be crazy.
IMO best place to go watch fireworks is at miller outdoor theatre with the symphony. Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture to cannons and fireworks is awesome
Fireworks go off about 915 so maybe 7-8 at the latest, if you're gonna park on-site at Oyster Creek. It's just a madhouse there cause they have celebrations all day. But it looks like they have a shuttle service that runs from Mercer Stadium. You can view them from the elementary school on Dulles (but the view isn't as good) or park there and walk to the park (bout a mile). You could also try and park at Lost Creek Park, though I don't know how the view is from there. If you go to Buffalo Run, you should be good arriving there at 8, but it's been a few years since I've gone there. You can also view fireworks from the Stafford Municipal Complex I believe...you get a pretty good view watching them in the stadium, and they play music. You can probably arrive 8-830 for those, if they still do it.
You might want to watch these videos before buying fireworks. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/r_TWHOxWsqE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <object width="448" height="374"><param name="movie" value="http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/e/16711680/wshhGSO85C957UQJ9r7v"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/e/16711680/wshhGSO85C957UQJ9r7v" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true" width="448" height="374"></embed></object>
That happened to us once, except it was just a single firework. The thing fell over and it flew right at me and hit me. Make sure you know what you're doing, before using fireworks lol
