Two firetrucks smashed into each other in front of Mark's restaurant this morning. I live nearby and my power was knocked out when the ladder truck smashed into a utility pole. It was quite the cluster**** over there when I went home for lunch. According to the Chron, 11 people were taken to hospitals including 9 firefighters. The fire they were responding to was a false alarm. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6349761.html I live not too far from the station and these guys thunder through Montrose regularly. Hope they're ok, because that is one of the gnarliest wrecks I've ever HEARD of, let alone seen.
worked with a lot of firefighters in the past. just sad to hear.. i guess whoever had the red light really failed to clear the intersection if he didn't see another truck coming =\
I think it's more likely that one of the trucks was simply going too fast to stop where the driver planned. I always wonder about those guys wearing their seatbelts on an alarm call. Got to feel for the poor woman on the bike that had a fire truck land on her.
Well whichever one had the red light failed to slow down and clear the intersection, then.. if you're going too fast to stop if necessary when coming up to a red light intersection, you have failed, cause you'll find people try to zip through on their green light often enough..
I don't get this, why are you telling him to "calm down?" There's nothing animated about this post, it's not entirely in caps, there's no exaggeration or hyperbole....so why does he need to calm down? And yes, I get the Pee-wee's Big Adventure reference.
I work on Allen Parkway and Waugh and our lights flickered twice right before 11 this morning. I wonder if that was why. The pictures look like a scene from Terminator 2.
Two large firetrucks collide - flip over - knock out power - send a dozen people to the hospital - shut down a major intersection ... Please tell us about the worst accident you've ever seen fatty and note we don't want to here about your birth.
And how was I "picking a fight?" I was talking about his statement reminding me of the quote from Large Marge. Some of you are laughably too sensitive. Good grief.
One of my best friends works out of station 7 downtown. He's working today but it was one of the rare times he's working out of another station or else he would have been on that truck.
