I do think Stone gets too much hate on the draft because like...

Yall all were agreeing with these picks lol. We got the receipts with board polls.

I'm also 100% sure Stone would have picked Cade with the #1 pick, would have picked Paolo, would have picked Wemby, he never got a chance to do so. Most of yall wanted Green over Mobley, I wanted Mobley over Green, I remember those discussions too lol.

The Sengun pick is a feather in his cap, even if Sengun is not long for this team, he's a valuable trade asset otherwise. So is the Reed pick and Amen pick, both went over players that we could have majorly fumbled, he got those right.....


Stone sucks or is mediocre at best at everything else though....over values FVV, the off season signings have been trash, not really a good trade I can think of either so yeah, like @Nook said, not the worst, but we could be doing a lot better.

 

The biggest miss was the Ime extension. I put it right up there with the previous regime’s Westbrook trade. It may sound a bit silly, but when he said “maybe this isn’t our year”, it was all over for me. No other GM would show his ass like that. I don’t think he is respected at all by the other league front offices.

 

Yeah, it sounds like he doesn't pick the right personnel around him.

I do think his drafting has been good, we just never got the #1 pick, which sucks, all those years and no #1 pick meanwhile San Antonio and Dallas just lazily flop into the #1 pick for two of the most hyped prospects for the past decade. That **** sucks. Sucks for Stone too, I imagine we too would be a lot better had we picked Wemby.

 

Yeah, he's bad at everything else. Missing mid draft is expected though, those are players you are supposed to take swings on, I do think he's had good picks given what he's been given.

Amen and Reed were hard picks too, most people were split on who to take in those spots and I think he hit both of those on the money.

But I'd rather have a GM that is good at everything else too because the draft is such a crapshoot. Any GM could drafty Wemby and look good...but look at Morey, never drafting top 5 when we had him, still building an elite team. I'd rather have that kind of GM that doesn't need the draft to build good teams.

That's fair...

Maybe we should trade Alpi to the Lakers and maybe the NBA will give us a #1 pick in return.

The only way the Rockets could have made that trade work is with DFS contract. It would most certainly cost them more than the 4 2nds just to move that terrible contract much less get Ayo in return.
