I don't like to bring this up, but this needs to be said that Yordan Alvarez should never ever bat 2nd in the lineup.
But Bregman deserves to? Yordan batting 2nd is to get him more total AB's. If all guys are hitting to their capabilities, shouldn't really matter too much what order they bat in (other than the 1st inning of a game...)
Well if not Alvarez who? The best hitter on the team should always hit 2nd. It maximizes the PA with opportunity to produce runs. Hitting him anywhere else is malpractice.
Au contraire, the best hitter should not hit second. Your two hole is gonna have a guy that can handle a fastball, because he's going to see strikes ahead of #3, where often times the best hitter resides, protecting him. Sometimes it'll be your cleanup man, but usually he's hitting 3. Also, in the 2 hole you want a guy with speed, and the ability to hit and run.. lay down a bunt..handle a bat. And, then you have guys get inserted at 2 to get them going if in a bit of a slump, because of the aforementiined fastballs over the plate.
Yes, emphatically. Those are all the textbook baseball boomer talking points from back in the 80's when Mauricio Dubon would have been our 2 hitter. Guys do not get excess fastballs just because they hit in front of Yordan. And if they did, who better to get them than Altuve.
Most teams don't have the luxury of approaching the 2 hole like us. Regardless, Yordan should hit 3...maaaybe cleanup.
I’ve defended him but espada sucks ass No way hader should go two innings and throw this many pitches.
