u can only hide behind so many excuses for so long. five year span the team's pts per game is pretty low for an offensive guru. This season is the highest and it's like 23.8, we not gonna scare anyone with our offense. Yea we won 7 win a row, but we also did lose to the Giants of all team.
Well, now that he's got a GM that knows what he's doing hopefully the OL will greatly improve and the offense should follow suit.
im not that caught up with the history of our oline, but i under the impression that it was solid after kubiak left, and slowly degraded under BoB leadership. The departure of the rock (brown) = bad oline to sht.
They were old when Kubiak left and Myers/Winston/Wade Smith/Briesel were replaced by XSF/Jones/Brooks/Newton. So the OL of Brown/XSF/Jones/Brooks/Newton were good at first but this is what happened and lead the team where it is today. DB (Traded) XSF (Bust) Jones (Let walk in FA) Brooks (Let walk in FA) Newton (Injured) The replacements didn't pan out over the last couple of seasons.
Lots of dumb moves were made and there is no sign the issue is getting fixed. Didn't help that O'Brien shuffled guys into wrong positions too.
But but but we need versatile guys. You can't have too many centers (who play guard but forced to play tackle)
Not so fast my friend! This feels like 2015 on steroids to me (ended that year winning 7 of our last 9). Week 13 isn't in the books yet, but as it stands right now the Texans have only beat 2 teams with winning records... the Cowboys and Redskins, both barely over .500 and both from the dogpoop NFC East. Going further, of the Texans remaining 4 opponents, it's very possible (if not likely) none of those teams finish with a winning record either. Now, credit where credit is due. The Texans used to *not even beat the mediocre teams*, which has been the theme of this entire season. So, this is all a step forward. But we could legitimately finish the season 13-3 and still be a walking dumpster fire (or at the very least, significantly flawed) at the same time. Crazy times we live in. Let's all hope for a 1st round bye or a weak draw like the Ravens.
Fire him after winning the AFC Championship, those two weeks before the Super Bowl is plenty of time to get a new coach.
I agree and am not interested in changing my vote. I think the team has played well enough but will be steamrolled in the playoffs. Bill O’Brien is doing well enough to avoid being fired and to keep the team mediocre for another 4 or so years. I don’t see us winning a Super Bowl with him—certainly not this season.
He is playcalling this way to get Watson into the playoffs no point going all out just to be banged up heading into the playoffs I feel he will take the shackles off come January
Hard to see them getting steamrolled with this defense, no matter who they play (Chiefs included). The formula is there... dominant defense with an offense that has just enough playmakers and can control the game with the run. There have been more SB winners in history that won it all with that formula vs. any other one.
