I swear kickers are like relief pitchers, most of them are hot and cold from one year to the next, with some great ones the exception (Vinatieri, Tucker).
Quit getting so nasty Buc. It was a joke. I know that he's from South Korea. Some names just have a funny way of translating.
I do not want a kicker coming off a Hamstring injury kicking in the Meadowlands. I really don't want any player to have to play there, but it is football.
Kickers and punters are more dependent and subject to re-injury of hamstrings than other players or at least their job is affected more because of their skill. the Meadowlands field injures players.
This discussion was about reinstating Fairbairn instead of going with Ammendola for another week. As far as I know, Ammendola is NOT coming off a hammy and Fairbairn is. It also appears the Texans have come to the same conclusions by bringing back Ammendola instead of activating Fairbairn. Just to be clear, Fairbairn is our kicker and Ammendola is our backup kicker. And as long as he's on the team, Dare Ogunbowale is our emergency kicker.
When did the Texans talk about Fairbairn coming back this week? "Never" is the answer. This is from 3 days ago: the Texans didn’t activate regular kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn from injured reserve. The team is considering waiting another week before starting his 21-day practice window and designating him for return. He has made significant progress in his recovery from a strained quadriceps, per sources. The Texans are currently expected to elevate kicker Matt Ammendola, who made all three field goals in a win over the Broncos, from the practice squad and have him kick Sunday against the New York Jets.
At least some were trumpeting Fairbairn coming off the IL as a sign he was ready. Thus my initial post concerning eligibility verses being ready.
