2011 as a correction. Of course Wall Street is still in great shape even with an 8 day slump. But we are talking about a President that sells Wall Street gains as vindication that he's doing a great job. Thats what is humiliating.

Also ... still waiting on this-

    Do your own homework jackass.

Yes Trump likes to think he is more important than he is, but this didn't do much if anything to the market today. Also, I don't know why you keep bringing up the biggest slump since the 70s. The market is barely down from highs. It's like you are trying to talk yourself into this speculative thinking. Just how things are coming across on the internet.

Also, I agree that any changes that eventually happen will take years to show if they even mattered at all. Nothing is saving coal imo. It's a dying industry. We should have transitioned to nuclear years ago.

Lol, a coal thread... hopefully Trump will lift the ban on hunting sperm whales to spur further job growth as well. Liberals have held the spermaceti wax industry down for too long.

If it would make his billionaire buddies, and himself, a few extra bucks, I wouldn't doubt it. The guy probably thinks sperm whales possess a coveted aphrodisiac that would help him out with his "little hands" thingy. Extinction? Who cares?

Yes I prob should have put a disclaimer on that post that it was more of a comedic speculation post that got mixed up in the more serious coal/clean energy discussion.

The streak we had of down days surely didn't make a dent in the historic highs that show a very healthy market. However I just thought it was funny that a regulation roll back bill comes after an 8 day slump after Trump talks over and over about how he's impacting the markets because of his greatness. Just a funny coincidence and not serious commentary.

To your point about nuclear, I think from everything I know about it, that it seems you really can get the best bang for your buck without pollution. However the rejection from the science community of this White House and Trumps facination with nukes would make a huge red flag go up if he started talking about nuclear anything more than he already does. But everyone you talk to in that field seems to be pretty consistent that nuclear energy gets the public scared but it really is overblown in the energy sector so I'm open to hearing more about it but just don't know as much about as I do solar and especially wind.

Sorry, but the burden of proof is on dobro for not backing up his claim with facts. He is guilty of shoddy evidence to support his claims.

Well you could easily man up and show your evidence.... show everyone you are Bigtexx and not Liltexx...

Coal is simply losing market share domestically, with technology and natural gas being it's biggest competition. As far as the future of renewables....

Like any energy source, geographical advantages (lots of solar/geothermal in CA and wind in TX) matter a lot.

Even coal miners know this won't bring back jobs. The only people who are fooled by this nonsense are people like Bigtexxx who don't know much about business.

Industry is doing this because they will make more profit, but the markets won't result in any kind of increase in product = no more jobs

No, no they don't--they think the government via the EPA and Obummer ruined their lives and took away their livelihood because of spotted owls and gays.

The Burden is not on me to stop what I'm doing and calculate some arbitrary stat about the power savings of Coal energy that apparently you have, aren't sharing, but want others to figure out for you.

You can answer for yourself and lie in your own bed of made up bull feces. Go watch Bill Orielly and feel sorry for yourself because the mean ole Liberals are ruining the world with their love of poor people, minorities, legal weed, and universal health care.

The GOP is pandering to their lobbyist support, rich friends, and engineering irrationality on its voter base. I can't believe there are people who think this isn't reality and think fossil fuels are still the way for jobs. Some backwards thinking and straight up brainwashing by the GOP there.

What backwards reality do you live in to think coal is still good for America? GOP has really become the party of the uneducated, disgruntled, and misinformed.

Idiots, they are just idiots to think that coal will create jobs when the need and growth is in renewables.

Yes, we know the Trump philosophy of pollute, crush unions, no benefits, crap wages, corporate welfare. They're all pro-growth strategies of the 19th century. Nice job.

There's some line about the past and repeating it that is perfectly applicable to the stupidity of Trump and his Trumpanzees.
