    Sprint with it's BS charges.

Now I remember why I left Sprint for AT&T.

I'll take that. Just pre-ordered today at Radioshack. I don't mind so much because I just switched my plan from $99 to $69.

I probably won't get into the 4G market right away since it's new and that additional charge seems needless at this juncture, but when it takes off in the future I was thinking about ditching my home internet plan and just using the phone as a tethered modem.

I was at a Sprint store recently and playing around with a netbook that was on a 4g network, I was meh on it. Speedtest.net results were good but pingtest.net were not so good (java was disabled/not loaded on that netbook so packet loss couldn't be tested).

maybe you should remember this also:

this was when everyone had 3G already.

so now when sprint wants to charge 10 more for 4G which no one else has...OH NO!

I just checked into getting the HTC EVO, which would require I switch from my Free & Clear 1000 plan to (I chose) the Everything Data 450 plan. Ultimately I may end up saving money!

    Radio Shack, here I come!

Actually, I shared a plan with family so it ended up costing me less and at the time there was no SERO.... although SERO is gone now.

Well... upgrading to an iPhone which uses a lot of bandwidth... I could see the justification for increasing the price.

I just don't see a point in increasing the price just because they upgraded their equipment to 4G. Sprint, at least from my knowledge and from the people I've asked when I had Sprint, has had a reputation for having BS monthly charges on phone bills and then not removing them.

My buddy was talking about Sprint today when I was making my pre-order and I have to say that I've had them for about four or five years and have had no issues. I even called the other day to switch to a plan that was $30 less and was surprised how easy it was. Not to be a naysayer, but I just haven't seen some of the criticism out there. I hope I never do.

so it doesn't cost sprint anything to upgrade a network to 4G? so that's you excuse? it's random hidden charges? no one's forcing you to pay it. it stated right there what its for and how much it is.

i can't wait to hear the confusion on the 4th generation iphone vs. the 4G network.

I was a customer since 03, up until 08. I had friends/family from other states telling me the bogus charges that had appeared from time to time on their monthly statements so it's not just here in Texas.
They've had a new CEO since then though so things may have changed.

I know you aren't forced to pay it, but what's the point of charging extra for 4G when it's going to become the next source for mobile browsing. I mean, it's almost discouraging people from upgrading from 3G to 4G. $30/mo is already high as it is... at least IMO.

well that's the thing. you're not being charged EXTRA 30 for data like ATT does.

it's $70 for 450 mins + data + text + any mobile unlimited calling. all they are adding is th 10 extra for a 4G device.

    i pay 100 for the basic iphone plan. if you break that down it's 40 (mins) + 30 (data) + 20 (text) + 9 (7pm mins) = 100

who the hell charges for 7pm mins these days..it's not even 5 bucks or something. close to 10 bucks. you can freaking an additional line for that.

Man AT&T is trash. I'm curious to see how they do if the Iphone goes multi-carrier.

Great looking phone but there's something about android that I'm not a fan at all and especially their boring UI. I have thought about picking up the Sony Xperia X10 androib but I think I'm going to hold out until Windows Phone 7 OS.

I was thinking the exact same thing about the UI after watching the engadget video.

Now if only WP7 would get here before November. :(
